Jay killed Why I Love You, probably the best song on the album (although it was basically a solo-joint). He was better on New Day, on The Joy, on Gotta Have It, Who Gon Stop Me, Illest Motherfucker Alive, basically on EVERY song that was really DOPE. The other songs were aight, but the songs I mentioned + Niggas In Paris, Otis (which I think Jay was better than Kanye on) & Murder To Excellence (Which I think Kanye was better on than Jay) were the best songs on the album, the rest was filler. On the best songs, Jay was the better on 6 out of 8 tracks.
MC-wise, Jay was head and shoulders above Kanye on the album, but of course Kanye had a bigger influence on the album overall since he´s the producer (not that he produced that many tracks, but he put the album together, made it cohesive).

If you put Ye at number one then Jay can also claim that position and not that it matters but you know WTT is not a solo album and even if you disagree thats cool cause them cats you put has hotter the Jayz still have to produce better results with their albums because you cant skip pass somebody who delivered better results so that only leaves Wayne and imo Wayne doesnt have the same impact as Jay, it may look that way on paper but culturally I think the world takes Jay way more serious then Wayne skateboarding on stage in ugg boots. Now I said Jay isnt competing with rappers because they just not his competition anymore but we all know he’s still a MC. But just so were clear the reason I say that is because as a solo artist and as WTT, Jay is competing with other genres at this point. Artist like Bon Jovi, U2, Foo Fighters, Rihanna, Kings Of Leon, Lady Gaga, Red Hot Chili Peppers etc… Why? because he has gone way beyond just hip hop and because his music whether it be solo or group has more impact then other rappers. Wayne can say the same in some aspects but Jay isnt on stage with Drake and Nicki Minaj anymore at this point. So even if Jay is number 10 on the list it just doesnt matter. Jay, Ye dont need to be concerned with a list about being “hot” cause thats too easy for them at this point. And if you say Ye is the hottest artist now thats cool cause guess who Ye just spent a whole year with, performing songs from a collaborative album with? HELLO. Now we can go on and on but as for this list they mite as well take Jay off because there can only be one G.O.A.T

marty, youre still missing the point. jay isnt competing with bono and em off of what he did in the last 12 months. its from what hes been doing his whole career. and in the last 12months, all jay-z has done in terms of hiphop, is release a collaborative album with an equal if not greater artist. thats not enough.

IF ANYTHING, its KANYES ALBUM! featuring jay. like wit the old wu-tang albums. its kanye from the artwork, to the production, even to the concept. i remember when they were still making the album and the original idea being just a 10-track ep, and kanye saying all jay gotta do is come up with 10 verses.
and what sets kanye apart is hes ALWAYS on the blogs, and internet. idk how many yeezys hes sold. he got the kobe commercials. nigga been on the cleveland show. the throne did 2 behind the scenes video blogs for WTT, one being the recording process and the other footage of KANYE visiting his childhood home.

@the realest, if you feel Kanye is the greater artist then his career history would have to show that and Kanye has about a decade to go still before he would be considered equal in totality. Thats one and 2nd if the only thing Jay had to do was come up with verses then cool cause I guess he did what he was supposed to do then. The reason why WTT sounds the way it does is because Jay can play his part in Kanye’s world musically but Kanye cant play in Jays world at an equal level musically because the content lyrically would be something Kanye has never lived and does not know much about. People with this whole shit about WTT is really a Kanye record? Ok then erase all of Jay’s parts and then listen to the album and see if it has the same effect. Jayz has an influence on the album, is it a big influence? No but its there and if all he had to do was right verses then I guess its a mission complete then. If all Jayz did was produce half of what turned out to be WTT then that means he’s more then “hot”. If Kanye is hotter then thats cool but if you wanna totally separate the two in that category I dont think you can when Jays name is also on the album.
And by produce half of WTT in Jays case, I meant in verses of course. It makes sense for Kanye to take the lead on a album that he also makes the beats for but that doesnt mean that Jay didnt also have to put his solo ambitions aside and focus as a team player.
Oh and as far as headlining Coachella goes, Jay did that already 2010.
