KRIT and Currensy are awesome lyricists, but Wiz held his own on that track despite less lyricism because his flow is so effortlessly smooth. and for the record i do think KRIT had the best verse on that track, but we’re talking about HOTNESS here. Kendrick Lamar, KRIT and Spitta are absolutely some of the dopest artists in the game, but if you think they should be on this list based on what they’ve done in the past year then you’re missing the entire concept.

^ there are too many rappers now to make an infallible list, so to weed out some of them is to take sales, radio, commercial bullshit, and the “streets” into play. this isnt a “the best MCs list.” its the “hottest MCs list” *(IN THE PAST YEAR). bcuz overall, you cant be that “hot” if only a certain amount of ppl actually listen and support you. but if your poppin on the radio, poppin in the clubs, popping in the streets, poppin on the internet, then yeah. you one of the hottest MCs in the game. and thats how this list is being judged.

Wiz deserved his spot on the list over 2 chainz because 2 chains just got hot a couple months ago. When Wiz dropped BlacknYellow, it was the hottest record out until Lupe dropped Show Goes on and Big Sean dropped My Last. Rolling Papers came after that and just because it doesnt sound like a Slaughterhouse album doesnt mean it completely sucked, it had some cool joints on it.
rollin papers was terrible even on a pop scale. it was bad overall. it sold bcuz ppl THOUGHT it was gonna be good. his best project was probley cabin fever, not his own album. and 2 chainz mixtape went better than cabin fever. not by much, bcuz they both arnt THAT great, but 2 chainz was better. and he JUST landed his deal with def jam bcuz of the noise he been making. and 2chainz’ lyrics are a tad bit better.

This list is mostly based on sales and popularity, so its gonna be all mainstream rappers, and I don’t understand what exactly the problem with that is. Everyone has different opinions on what rappers they like, so its impossible to make an objective list if you just focus on quality of the music, because everyone has a different definition of what quality really is. The only legitimate snub that anyone can complain about is Cole.

Guys, guys. We’re having a debate over a list that featured Waka Flocka Flame last year. This is not a skill ranking, and while skill does (?) factor in it’s not the main factor, especially for those low on the list. Wiz vs. 2 Chainz: Chainz was, and is, hot in the streets but not on the mainstream. Wiz did both, with his album in the mainstream and the mixtape in the streets. Even after he cooled off he still had more buzz total over the year than 2 Chainz. Wiz was the next big thing. So was Cole, but Rolling Papers had more (and better) pop hits than Cole World, so Wiz gets more spins. Chainz and Kendrick are still mostly street level, and Wale was (in terms of buzz) Wiz Jr. Therefore, Wiz wins.
I suspect that they’re done with the freshmen so prepare for debates on Drake and Nicki Minaj.
