  1. WORST INTERVIEW…ROUND TABLE….WHATEVER U CALL IT.

LMAO…every time i see these losers, I die laughing.

  2. Album of the year? Section 80, no fucking doubt. First of all, it´s one of the only COHESIVE hip-hop album this year. There´s a major theme, there´s a sonical cohesieveness that only Take Care has other than Section.80, he showcases lyrical brilliance (Rigamortis), he demonstrates his flow (once again, Rigamortis), he tackles different subjects (Fuck Your Ethnicity, Keisha´s Song, Tammy´s Song, HiiiPower, Spiteful Chant, among others), almost every song is at least good (except for Blow Your High, but honestly, it´s refreshing on the album since it´s so light next to all the darkness on the album), it´s sequenced to perfection (I remember J. Cole talking about how they spent a lot of time sequencing Cole World, nigga that sequencing was trash compared to this), it has very few guests, it has interesting concepts, none of the beats are whack, none of the beats sound like they used the same base (ehm, J. Cole, looking at you, Timbaland you too) for every beat but they still have a similar overall sound.

Overall, considering that this album was an indie album, that it featured no major artist, no major producer, that it pushed boundaries, that it was a lyrical and sonical masterpiece, I hereby declare Section80 hip-hop album of the year and a classic.

  3. This is just Shameful. Drake’s album was overrated. Kendrick’s was the best of the year and they try to take it down far too early. They are all yelling and speaking over each other in the least professional way. Also, how can you claim to know hip-hop but you have never heard of Phonte. The majority of the people who read this blog know more about music than these people.

  4. Common The Dreamer/The Believer

  5. if you disagree listen to Raw (How You Like It) and suck a dick

  6. Nigga said he never heard of Phonte…WTF??? All credibility lost…

  7. and to the first person who thinks of saying Carter 4 just shut the fuck up

  8. YG – just red’up

  9. Turned it off after Section 80 got pulled down. None of these clowns made a good point about any of them except the bitch that said “Drake made an album for [females]“

  10. Action Bronson & Statik Selektah – Well Done
Blaq Poet – Blaq Poet Society
Bumpy Knuckles & Statik Selektah – Lyrical Workout
    Evidence – Cats & Dogs
Hassaan Mackey & Apollo Brown – Daily Bread
Jay Rock – Follow Me Home
    Jon Connor – Salvation
Kool G Rap – Riches, Royalty & Respect
    M.O.P – Sparta
    Maffew Ragazino – Rhyme Pays
Rashad & Confidence – The Element Of Surprise
Reks – Rhythmatic Eternal King Supreme
Silent Knight – Busy Is My Best Friend
    SkyZoo – The Great Debater
    Statik Selektah – Population Control
Styles P – Master Of Ceremonies
    Termanology & Ea$y Money – S.T.R.E.E.T
    The Regiment – Panic Button
    Torae – For The Record
WC – Revenge Of The Barracuda

2011 was aight, enough dope released out this year …..

  11. “Turned it off after Section 80 got pulled down. None of these clowns made a good point about any of them except the bitch that said “Drake made an album for [females]“”

    ^^ This

  12. smh at dude that don’t know Phonte.. just like @MusicGood : most of us on this site know more than them all

  13. *sigh* So Drake’s album stayed up there?

    Naw.

    **walks away**

  14. Where the fuck was Camp? It’s the rap album of the year easily. Every song, every line, crazy concepts, indie beats, way different flow, no features, singing and rapping, what more do you want?

  15. That was retarded. Even if Phonte didn’t have an amazing album, that’s you cant judge it because you don’t know him….

The Roots, Common, and Kendrick are top 3. Thats it.

  16. no danny brown XXX, G side, or Das Racist??..and then they take down section 80…..after that the only interest i had in this video was the those tigobitties waiting to pop out!!! dwayyumm!

  17. “The Roots, Common, and Kendrick are top 3. Thats it.”

    @AAA exactly

I also fucked with Covert Coupe and Returnof4eva and that shit Asher just dropped lol.

  18. “The Roots, Common, and Kendrick are top 3. Thats it.”

    @AAA exactly

I also fucked with Covert Coupe and Returnof4eva and that shit Asher just dropped lol.

  19. fuck ass industry dick riders

    My top 3 (no order)

    Evidence- Cats & Dog

    Saigon- Greatest Story Never Told

Raekwon- Shaolin Vs. The Wu Tang

  20. Fun to watch,

    Kendrick Lamar – Section 80

    Common – Dreamer/Believer

  21. Take Care is a great CD, people who are saying it’s for females… shut the fuck up. I can say that and also say Charity Starts at Home, Section.80, and Black and Brown were great CDs too. (obviously The Dreamer, The Believer, but that needs more time to really sink in)

  22. yo they actually acknowledged last train to paris? thought i was the only nigga in the world that know something bout music. amazing.

  23. Camp was album of the year. point blank period.

  24. section.80 should be top 3, doesnt have to be 1 or 2, but at least top three…thats all im saying.

  25. also no mention of A Sucker For Pumps..slept on

  26. Section.80

  27. In my personal opinion its Cats n Dogs but if we really gonna be honest? In most of the worlds opinion its WATCH THE THRONE. The very night it came out almost every hip hop head stopped what they were doing just to listen to it and at least by the first week everybody had an opinion on it. Pound for pound, variety of subject matter, lyricism, beats and overall performance. WTT = AOTY

  28. they got it right. WTT album of the year. cept idk why take care was in the final 2. shit was r&b. if thats the case last train to paris kill everything on that list in terms of production, lyrics, emotion, and execution. pound real shit

  29. No Section.80?

    Fuuuuuuuuck…you.

  30. ^ its actually a lil bit more on the put-you-to-sleep side if you asked me. but its not a fluke and the nigga is here to stay. he just need to link up with a dre or puff or somebody. somebody that can take his shit to “the next level.”

  31. nobody should take none of these niggas seriously

  32. where the fuck is Wale and Big Sean.. ya full of shit.. fuck Shake and Meka

  33. I Just Watched For The Fight. They’re Drunk And Not Really Debating.

  34. Wash the throne was the wackest thing this year
    Section.80 >>>>> Your aoty >>>>> WTT

  35. YG – Just Re’d Up ; Best party/rap genre project!

  36. WTT is outrageously overrated. Its the fact that Kanye and Jay made an album together is what makes people think so high of it, without even judging the actual music.

If Nas and Emeinem planned a collab album, regardless of the actual content and lyrics etc. people will say its amazing just because of the two artists doing an album.

  37. Best 3 albums.. EASILY…

    Section. 80
    The Dreamer/The Believer
    Watch The Throne

The fuck they talking about Drake’s album like it was some masterpiece??? It was WEAK… He sings on most of the album, and he only has like 4 good tracks.. That’s not a solid album… Plus, he has NO content.. WTT covered everything from high end materialism to racism. Section .80 was REAL.. and Common’s album covered all bases as well.. These people are idiots..

  38. roots undun > any album mentioned in the C-section thus far

  39. LMAO 16:25 “are y’all fucking paying attention”

  40. First and foremost I had the biggest fucking BONER for the chick with the red hair. Baby if you see this holla at B-LINE I will beat that pussy up.

as far as album of the year every muthafucka likes his own shit and that’s real. The albums they had up (most of them) where different styles of hip-hop.

My personal favorite was Take Care. He came through and did it again altough not to the caliber of Thank Me Later (but who really tops their first album). Cold World was also a fucking massive album great fucking story. And in third for me would be WTT.

  41. @the realest

Nigga his shit is on the next level WTT can’t fuck with Section 80 AT ALL! and I love Jay and Ye but wtt is weak. You think S.80 is boring I think WTT is boring. Also nigga you don’t know shit abut music if you think diddy album is good. The nigga can’t rap, has weak ghostwriters and the production is some ole pop ass euro trash disco bs music. The lyrics and delivery is weak. Diddy can’t flow to say his life. And emotion lol diddy is sterile as fuck. LTTP is generic as it gets. So you are a fucking joke just like these clowns in this video. Take Care is a fucking average ass album and these fools acting like it jesus in music form.

  42. @B-Line

Really? “Take Care” is better than “TML” Thats one of the weakest debut albums I’ve heard. And Cole world as your 2nd best? lol hell no! I like J.Cole but “Cole world” can’t even top his old shit(The warm up).

  43. These people don’t know SHIT when it comes to music.

    @the realest

I thought it was a bit of a boring album on first listen too. But the music really starts to enlighten you on second, third, and forth listen. On my first listen, I thought Spiteful Chant was absolute shit. Now, I can’t stop playing that shit in the gym.

I mean, I know people have their preferences, but Section.80 DESERVES to be AOTY.

  44. Stopped watching after that clown took Section.80 off. Lowkey should have uppercutted that bitch.

  45. to the black chick in the pink shirt who’s actin like she runs shit…. is that a shitty tit job or do they just have the sag of an 80 year old woman and you’re wearing a push up bra

  46. @word

man that’s my list don’t judge me!!!!

Thank Me Layer was a fucking MasterPiece minus many many jams that he left off like KILLA ft. Nipsey.

Dude we all like a certain type of rap. HIp Hop is so huge it has broken into all kinds of styles and fits under the hip-hop umbrella. This is a good thing embrace IT.

Take Care had a bit more singing than I would have liked but still a very very very solid album. COLD WORLD told a very depressing life story. Cole will never show that candor again. Solid debut by simba. And watch the Throne had monumental songs, inspirational messages up the azz. But then it went too much into party records but still a solid solid album.

  47. nevermind… not a shitty tit job

  48. @ what….the….fuck

nigga you sound dumb. first, section 80 was not on “the next level.” and heres why. it was a good, solid album. great album. but is it illmatic? no. so that means he still has progressing to do to get to that next level.

now, a lame will say, “why you compare it to illmatic, a classic.” bcuz thats the lane kendrick is in. he CAN BE the nxt nas. and section 80 is the closest to illmatic as there has been. but the nigga still got some developing to do. thats where a dre or puff can come in.

and as for puff and LTTP, nigga stfu lol for real:
    1. you said puff cant rap -_____- we’ve known this since day 1. HES NOT A RAPPER! look up his occupstion first, then holla.
    2. you said he has weak ghostwriters. nas, luda, jay, j cole, ross, game, pharoahe monch, t.i., the lox, etc all have and still do write for puff. so, now, stfu again.
    3. you said the production was weak? are you serious? ALL THE PRODUCERS THAT WORKED ON THAT PROJECT THAT TOOK THREE YEARS TO MAKE? im not gonna put a list up cuz you wont even know who they are. just know that they got a grammy room in they house.
    4. and you laughed at emotion. by that alone ( and thats even if you heard it cuz i can almost bet my last sneaker you havnt) i can tell what type of nigga/other you are.

    and @ pauly

i fucks wit what you got to say, so if you say i need listen to it a few more times, then thats what ima do. i was just given my opinion on why it cant be album of the year.

i know hes that “new nigga”. that new young nigga and ppl wanna give him his credit and just dues, but we gotta be objective to. and IN MY OPINION(im not stating this as fact) its a lil boring. he gotta make it exciting and attractive. have a catch to it.

i repeat that last statement is just me and how i feel, but everything else ESPECIALLY THE LAST TRAIN TO PARIS, is fact.

  49. i was done watching this after phonte’s name got taken down. they don’t know real hip hop for shit. fuck these commercial ass niggas.

  50. no disrespect to kendrick and section 80 was dope as fuck do nt get me wrong but it wasnt consistant i mean youll get shit fucking bangers like ronald regan era then get some weak ass hook like ” im going big, suck my dick” come on now think about it that shit is wack as fuck personally kendricks best shit was THE KENDRICK LAMAR EP AND OD. section 80 is not and album of th year contender it fall short of UNDUN caliber regardless of him being independent section 80 was boring as fuck to me lyrically kendrick cant fuck with black thought or common i put him at about #5 he didnt have one song that made think “oh shit that was dope” friday night lights was better than section 80 and even the warm up and those were mixtapes. come on people. i think its a tie between TM103 and UNDUN but undun might pull away because creatively and lyrically it cannot be fucked with its a very cohesive album so stop with all this section 80 shit kendrick is trying too hard now trying to be like tupac man be yourself like on the kendrick lamar ep which is his dopest shit because he was staying true to himelf and his craft now hes trying to hard to be this philosopher ass compton nigga school boy q is by far the realest nigga in TDEperiod. so with that i say UNDUN for AOTY

  51. Where’s Justin Bieber?

  52. Wow, i would have loved to been in this video. Watch The Throne was okay, but just because it features two of the greatest Kanye & Jay, everybody wants to say it was great. I honestly didn’t like it, all they were doing throughout the album, basically was bragging on their riches. Here’s my top 3
    1. Section.80 – Kendrick Lamar (number 1 hands down)
    2. Charity Starts at Home – Phonte (Excellent album)
    3. Drake – Take Care, the beat selection, the story behind it, the lyrics were just incredible.
    J. Cole’s album was dope too.

  53. How do you judge music on a non musical scale?
Well not even how. When you judge music on a non musical,
non creative scale, this happens. I personally think any criteria outside of creativity, lyricism, and musical content is counter productive in naming a hip hop album of the year. Sales are completely irrelevant because every sale doesn’t equal enjoyment. the same way you can throw away a slice of pizza you purchase, you can, not enjoy an album you purchase. Sales just mean some one bought the shit. Parents buy gifts and never listen to the album, let alone enjoy it.

  54. #! Section 80 #2 Charity Starts at Home #3 WTT

  55. Where Wale’s Ambition it didn’t have 2 be top 3 but damn where’s the acknowledgment this man killed it in 2011 #MMG

  56. More like Album of the Last 6 months no love for Raekwon? no love for Saigon? or Kool G and that dudes takin about reppin NYC wtf. Suprised they didn’t put Rolling papers on this pop list they put out.

  57. @murk ^^^ agreed, however if u watch their debates on a regular basis (as i try too) everything about the list and their opinions was expected. it was all flash. i personally feel that if wtt is gonna stay up there, so should bad meets evil…..AND WHERE IS BLUE SLIDE PARK?!?!?!?!? THAT SHIT BROKE 15-16 YEAR RECORD!!!

  58. This is the most incoherent rambled filled bullshit I’ve ever heard.

  59. Plus, where is Cats & Dogs, For the Record, and Section 80?

  60. Not Section 80, my bad, I meant Undun.

  61. Ummmmmm… Mac Miller “Blue Slide Park” anyone????

  62. I know it JUST dropped, but that Jeezy – TM103 is a damn CLASSIC!!

ALBUM OF THE YEAR!! JEEZY BACK!!

  63. common, roots and kendrick made the exact album these close minded hiphop miggets want to hear.. how is this better than drake making an album females want to hear? you tell me thats better? as far as i’m concerned.. there hasnt been any good hiphop album this year.. yeah right, not one.. bad meets evil was a pretty nice ep, and thats it actually.. us rap fell off so hard, its not funny.. i grew out of this ***** “music”

  64. Most of the arguments were about commercial success. If they are going to argue using sales figures we might as well get the billboard charts out and sorts the hip hop albums by that. Dude didn’t even know who Phonte is… How can you have an argument about hip hop albums when they obviously didn’t listen to half the albums up there.

  65. yeah @ Reggie… and most of them hadn’t even heard Section 80. Fucking idiots.

  66. IMO WTT wasn’t even Top 10 worthy. Is it me though, or was Pharoahe Monch mysteriously missing from this list. Solid effort by him IMO

  67. Take away the drinks and they could have figured this out in 24 minutes less.

  68. Wow niggas forget about curren$y covert coup best album of the year hands down
    Section 80
    Cole world
    Wtt

  69. How dare they take down Section.80 so early. lol Section.80 is 10 times better than Watch The Throne. And they took off Cole World like it wasnt even hot. TM103 over Cole World? Are you fucking kidding me?

    Take Care
    Section.80
    Cole World

    Fuck them. lol

  70. My number one? Action Bronson’s ‘Dr Lecter’.

  71. Saigon The Greatest Story Never Told is my favorite album of the year!

  72. The Roots Undun was album of the year and @ chef I think you used to tit jobs cause natural big tits are going to hang a little bit. That’s that gravity for ya ass.
