After being away for a minute T-Pain recently dropped an album titled reEVOLVEr, where he still uses the Auto-Tune sound. Should he have evolved past this or is this what he does best. The Friday Hip Hop Report crew discuss “Should T-Pain Have Evolved Past Auto-Tune?

I haven’t heard the album yet, but I thought that T-Pain was supposed to have ditched this sound by now. Hell, he even said it himself. I guess it’s like crackheads trying to go cold turkey, then.

  1. t-pain is definitely better now than he used to be. this album has way more quality songs than his others have and those each sold over 100k the first week. if he wasn’t good, then why would other artists put him on the hook to make a hit? t-pain is his own style and it is good!

  3. But I think an artist like T-Pain is no different of an artist like Sade or 50 Cent or Talib Kweli. They have their own lane, and that’s the type of artist they are. So why hasn’t anyone asked them or expected them to switch it up? Just because he uses Auto-Tune? The Parliament used a voice decoder on their songs but people enjoyed them without complaining about it. Cmon son.

  10. T-Pain hasn’t really grown. Just because people put u on a hook or pay u to do a song, doesn’t mean they are good. I agree with Jaz that T-Pain hasn’t grown. Most TRUE artists evolve like Kanye, Jay-Z, Drake, J. Cole, MJ etc., (Not saying all these guys are in the same league) 5 years later and you still are putting out the same music, u need to re-evaluate something.

  11. autotune is not a sound its a software. T-pain is using a different software now. A lot of the shit that we hear that people call autotune isn’t actually autotune anyway
