Here goes a fresh joint off Jern Eye’s upcoming sophomore release, Vision, which is scheduled to hit shelves on October 13th. Featuring the likes of Mistah F.A.B., Zion I, Guilty Simpson, Cali Agents and more; with production from Illmind, Jake One, Keelay & Zaire, etc.
First leak off FWMJ’s Rappers I Know & Funkadelic Freestyles‘ next installment of their collaborative efforts; Volume II: Back in the Game. Another full-length project featuring all new/unreleased music from the likes of Blu, The Foundation, Bilal, Kokayi and more. Look for the entire project to drop on August 18th, with Volume III: This is Overtime having a September release.
Zumbi & Amp Live are back with another (2)dope video off their latest album, The Takeover. They definitely took it back from left field with this one, but that doesn’t take away from the freshness. Shouts to OKP on the premiere.
Some footage of Zumbi & Amp Live performing in the Bay at the Shoreline Amphitheater. Above is Coastin‘ and after the jump Amp Live gets down on a guitar solo during Money For Nothing. The TakeOver available now!
It didn’t have a system either so I filled the back with a bunch of house speakers
- Slug
Third single off The Grouch & Eligh’s latest release, Say G&E, which is in stores now. Featuring Slug (of Atmosphere) and Amplive (of Zion I) on the production. Yes, the album has been out for a little while, but the duo is now offering the single up for free download. So I figure it was worth a post. A video is also in the works as well.
The emcee of Zion I speaks on their latest album (The Take Over) and it’s difference from past projects. Him & Reece Q also talk about their current tour and how the Geek to the Beat video was put together. I agree whole heatedly with Shamz on it being one of the dopest videos of the year. Interview conducted by ActiveForTheCity.
A white rabbit riding bmx + dancing women in tutus + some heavy 808s and dope lyrics = Zion I’s new video. Here is the OKP world premiere for Zion I’s Alice In Wonderland themed video, Geek To The Beat (dir. M.A.Y.O.). Zion I’s new album, The Takeover is in stores now.
Last week The Burnerz (Zumbi of Zion I x the ARE of The Trackmasters) linked up to record a song dissecting the tension between the police and the public; which have been highlighted by several events in Oakland (Zumbi’s hometown). In particular; the murder of Oscar Grant; as well as the murder of four Oakland officers last week.
The Burnerz feel that the tragedies that we are witnessing can be attributed to the long history of police brutality experienced in the black and brown communities. It’s supposed to make cats feel uncomfortable and get people thinking.
Broadcasting live from the Zoo in West Oakland, ZION I talks about finally being able to do music full time, the creative process for their album titled The Takeover, and exclusive performance. Props to Mario.
Tonight I got an email about someone inquiring about help with a list of songs about the love of hip hop. A project they were putting together for school. It reminded me of a few years back… in 2005 I used to surf around the internets, checking out certain forums and what not. Putting together little compilations for the people around the way. This particular mix was perfect for the dopeboy who sent the email; and I figured since it’s already uploaded I’d share with ya’ll as well.
There’s no exclusives or anything. Just a collection of tracks I put together a few years back that represented an artists love for hip hop. Pretty good mix of artists if I don’t say so my self. From Atmosphere to The Roots, Zion I to Aceyalone, Cee-Lo to The Thrday, Common, LL Cool J and more.
