Now this is funny. The Roots’ resident drummer took to Will Ferrell’s comedy-inspired viral video homestead to compare the NBC show to the legendary rap crew, backing up this message he left a month ago. And of course it wouldn’t be official without a Wu sighting…
Oh, and Thriller and Rashida Jones = the two best things Quincy Jones created.
As devoted fans clamor and salivate for anything Wu-related, Gold Dust & Nature Sounds are proud to announce the release of Return of the Wu & Friends, produced and compiled by Wu-Tang Clan producer/DJ Mathematics and including some exclusive tracks, lost gems and old time favorites featuring all nine emcees.
Check out the tracklist down bottom. SHAKE EDIT: I might be missing something, but I don’t hear U-God anywhere on this track.
Enter The 38th Chamber is a collaboration between URB.com, Fat Beats, and Audible Treats to present a remix series that finds a crew of elite emcees riding the rhythms of El Michels’ down and dusty soul instrumentals. Appearances by Diamond District, Del The Funky Homosapien, A-Plus of Souls of Mischief, Kam Moye, Nightclubber Lang of Boom Bap Project, Sandpeople, Von Pea of Tanya Morgan, and many more will add layers of lyricism to El Michels’ signature funk, making it a complete and compelling package for all listeners.
Dirt McGirt doing an anti-drug song? Isn’t that about as wrong as that Cosby Show pr0n that came out a while back? Hell, in the first 15 seconds he says he “cocaine’d out.” I give up.
Mind you, all of this stuff happened because of a fantasy, fictional rap bracket from a magazine that ultimately went the way of the dodo. There’s no winners here, people. Just failures.
Some extra footage from GFK’s video shoot. The Wizard of Poetry: In Emerald City drops soon. And check out a performance from Ghost spotted at KNOWxONE’s new crib (glad to see he’s back up and running) under the cut.
