If you were around for Lessondary Radio this past weekend, you may have caught them play this track off their upcoming The Sandwich Shop: Because Hoes Gotta Eat Too (which is tentatively set to drop next week before Mother’s Day) project. If not, enjoy.
Off TRUTHLiVE’s Patience LP (iTunes), entirely produced by Jake One.
TRUTHLiVE explains, “‘Remind Rewind’ is a reflective homage to hip-hop, primarily focused on my deep appreciation for the art of emceeing, and its profound impact on me as a kid/young adult.” He continues, “It is also a track about the emergence of a new generation of emcee’s carrying on the tradition.
Taking a break from a crazy week at SXSW, Von Pea linked up with fellow Tanya Morgan emcee Donwill as they recreated “Ian’s Song,” a track featured on Donwill’s recently released solo effort, Don Cusack In High Fidelity (in stores now). As one third of acclaimed Tanya Morgan, the producer/rapper has close ties to Donwill and his recent release. In the video, Von Pea remakes the beat live using Native Instrument’s Maschine midi controller while Donwill handles the vocals as he and Von lightheartedly recant the song’s verses track alongside input from Interdependent Media General Manager and A&R Dominic Del Bene.
And attention all aspiring beatsmiths, if you like the beat machine Von used, hit the jump for details on how to win one.
In case you missed it, during the First Friday edition of (2)Dope Radio, the Lessondary crew stopped by and – inspired by booze and women – crafted this song, with myself providing the cuts. Definitely the first time I’ve been a witness to an actual song being recorded on-air.
Many thanks to everyone who tuned in to (2)Dope Radio tonight, and an extra shout out to The Lessondary crew for coming through. Don’t forget, (2)Dope Radio, every Saturday, 4pm-6pm EST (1pm-3pm PST).
I honestly only gave this a listen for the Von Pea feature; as I have no clue who the other folks are (no shots). But this track is pretty good. Produced by A3.

Donwill and I were listening to the sandwich beats that The Roots dropped a while back and we decided to record to 9 of them. We did most of it in one day, and we are going to be dropping the whole thing right after Don Cusack comes out on the 23rd. Its just another thanks to the people that support us.
Donwill & Von Pea – The Sandwich Shop: because hoes gotta eat too.
Off the Los Angeles based producer/DJ’s upcoming album As Serenity Approaches; which will feature the likes of Oddisee, Dumbfoundead, Donwill, Ohmega Watts, TiRon, Raashan Ahmad, John Robinson, Substantial, Theo Martins and more. Hit the jump for it’s (2)dope artwork as well.
If you’ve ever been out West, you’ll know that that shot above is one of the greatest foods ever. I can’t even eat red meat anymore, but I’ll fuck up three of those in a heartbeat. Anyways, here’s the latest leak from Prez’ Animal Style, which finally has a release date: Feruary 15th.
Second leak off the Earth Tone King’s upcoming project, Moontones, dropping on February 24th. The follow up to Earthtones that we dropped back in April.
