After the Forever video aired, the rumors of Slaughterhouse going to Shady Records started to pick up speed. VIBE caught up with 1/2 of the machine to speak on them as well as their cameo in the video and their thoughts on the song.
There’s gonna be rumors when somebody see something like that but it just is what it is. We just all family. As everybody knows, Em is a good friend of mine. We’ve been good friends for years. I just had my Slaughterhouse brothers in town and [Eminem's manager] Paul [Rosenberg] asked me to come down and be in the video and they just happened to be in town with me so I just brought ‘em with me. – Royce
The song itself is kinda like an All-star lineup. It kinda symbolizes each person is playing their position just how LeBron does on the court and his team, so it’s kinda cool. I like the song. Em ripped it. I think he hit the home run, but I liked everybody’s verses. – Crooked I
It was like they set the alley-oop for him and he just dunked it. Normally when you got that many MCs on a song, the song can get boring after a while but all of ‘em kept up the pace and Em came with a totally different flow and just kinda stole it. – Royce
Then of course the question of whether or not Slaughterhouse would rock a freestyle over Forever came up. In which Crook responds…
That would be a good idea. The song’s about six minutes so that’s what we do. We be making some real long songs… That’s right up Slaughterhouse alley.
Crooked I’s Pig Face Weapon Waist EP is now looking at an October release; which may fall before or after Royce’s album, Street Hop (October 20th).
In part three of this lost interview with 2Pac from 1996, the West Coast legend speaks on being jailed and his belief that Puff Daddy knew about his shooting beforehand.
In the midst of our catch up, I almost forgot that today marks the 13th anniversary of Tupac’s untimely passing. Check out some unreleased footage (May 1996), freshly liberated by Vibe. In the clip above, Pac speaks on a unified rap nation and where he’d be in 2016.
In what was supposed to be a surprise 2 part editorial with the Dungeon Family, with VIBE shutting it’s doors. It looks like we might only get part 1. Shitty…
Of course I wanted to find out more of what was going on and since I saw that the homie Spree Wilson was actually down there I hit him up to see what was up… When I got in contact with him he told me they was wrapping up and headed over to Stankonia which was right across the street from me. He also told me that he is super cool with Linda Hobbs, the writer of the story, that he was the only person allowed to record at the site and scored some Flip cam footage of the photoshoot and spoke to everybody (except Andre 3000) and wanted to give to me to put on the site.
Check out Maurice’s crib for a better run down of whass happenin. And check the jump for a great picture of the crew…
I got my feet wet again doing that and had fun with it. It’s called Funny People. I kinda do a little cameo in that–which was fun by the way. And 8 Mile was not a fun movie to shoot…Will I end up doing another movie again? Probably yeah. Would I like to? Yes. I don’t know when it’s gonna happen because right now I’m so focused on music.
During Em’s interview with Angela Yee, he hinted towards a big movie he had a part in but couldn’t go past that. VIBE just released an outtake from Marshall’s recent cover story in which he reveals he’ll make a cameo in the upcoming movie, Funny People, with Adam Sandler, Seth Rogen & Leslie Mann. The part is real small, but yea… in case anyone was curious to what he was speaking on during the interview. There you go.
Yesterday Meka informed me that we took the number three spot on VIBE’s 50 Hottest Blogs list. I decided to hold off on posting until we could get that official official word. Welp… dopeboyz and dopegirlz, it’s official! Something I’m extremely proud of actually. We’ve been doing this for less than a year and a half. I’d like to think we did a damn good job to be ranked so high in the short amount of time we’ve been running. This past year has been surreal. Hearing an artist I’ve been listening to for at least 10 years shout our site out is amazing. Every time I even hear of people knowing about the site, it’s a great feeling. I truly wanna thank the dopeboyz for continuously coming to the site and letting us do what we do.
I also wanted to point out that the NMC took 5 of the top 11 spots (6 if you count the lovely unofficial first lady). Big ups to everyone, wherever you placed (full list after the jump). Our time has come….
MEKA: Around this time two years ago I was an office jockey, making coffee and stuck feeling like I was going nowhere fast. What a difference two years makes. It’s still an amazing feeling knowing what I do is recognized by people to this day, and I thank each and every supporter, follower, commenter, shit-talker and detractor alike for getting us to the level it’s at more. We still got much more for everyone, so just keep it locked here. Now if you’ll excuse me, I got to bark on a few heads about my money, Dame Dash-style.
First XXL, now VIBE. I can only imagine that by the end of the month Em will be on the cover of atleast five other publications. Full version after the jump…
I know most of you have seen or atleast heard about these shots. I was just waiting for some hi-res scans of the spread before I posted. Leave it up to the good folks at CC to come through. Damn… Bow Wow lost (50 times). Hit the jump…
Splash just hit me off with the YouTube link that has some cool behind the scenes type shit about Jay covering Vibe’s 15th Anniversary Issue. I picked mine up the other night, shit’s official.
The final covers for VIBE’s 15th Anniversary Juice Issue are in. I guess they answered what most of ya’ll wanted when we put up the contest. Hov! Hit the jump. Also, Sickamore has the actual issue and is live blogging it.
I posted a 2 of the covers a little while back and now I’m dropping a few more. The catch is, only one is real. Confused? Hit up VIBE for more details and try your hand out in the contest. For decent sized images, hit the jump…
Prodigy puts some visuals to Power is People from inside the bing bing. Directed by Dan the Man. Also, be sure to check out his response to Nas & Jay-Z, through VIBE.
