After the homie Grynch won the Illa J x J Dilla contest, he told me there was much in the works. Today he shot over a fresh leak off his upcoming Chemistry EP, which drops July 7th on GetGrynch.com. I don’t even have to tell you this track is (2)dope. The line-up should give that away just fine.
Spotted this at Mario’s tilt, but Cook himself came to me with the following message:
…there’s no fucking explanation to it that relates that the entire thing is just a freestyle, and that we’re listening to the tracks through a 10 dollar boombox, or that 6th’s mpc was fucking up.
Tunji, TiRon & Ayomari, Bleu Collar joined Diz at the release party for Soon You’ll Understand, and Drew was on hand to capture a good chunk of footage from it. Check it out.
I’ve been trying to tell ya’ll… my man Tunji is no fucking joke when it comes to the rhymes. Very dope with the Sha Stimuli shout… maybe I can get them on a track together (if it’s not already in motion). Clear picture too, I need a new camera haha. Also… if you’re in the LA area this weekend, be sure to hit up the New Classics Mixtape Release Party. Flyer after the jump…
little while back I was talking this record up like crazy as I got to witness the creation personally. Big ups to everyone that showed me love instantly. It was defintely good times. Like the 6th Sense & Wildabeast track below I was supposed to knock out some artwork (and I did) but leave it to this virus bullshit and everything was cleaned out. I guess they didn’t wanna wait til I was done. Dah well… Recorded for the upcoming VIMBY mixtape, The New Classics, as well as Vince’ Refreshing Re-Issue. Just know this record is gonna be stuck on repeat for a long time. All four of them go the fuck in. UPDATE: Check out El Prez speaking on the song under the cut.
Even though this was supposed to drop last week I have gathered my thoughts and have forgiven Tunji for lying to me. Mostly because I knew the music was gonna be well worth the wait. Especially after hearing a few cuts before the release This is dope fucking music people! Featuring production from Kno (of CunninLynguists), Cook Classics, Adam Berg and Decapbeats; and guest spots from Deacon the Villain (of CunninLynguists) and Substantial (QN5!). Add that to the fact that the artwork is fresh as fuck. Shouts to BMAR on that tip. Don’t sleep, it’s INVERSE!
Some footage of Inverse, Cook Classics & Paul Dateh working on the opening track of their So True EP (which is supposed to be out! Tunji!?) called Rise & Shine. Cook’s neighbors have like 10 dogs and each time they are let out back they just bark. Shitty. Hit the jump for Paul Dateh doing his thing on the violin…
I told you I was gonna keep it on the indie tip for a little while. Here goes two joints from the San Francisco production duo Keelay & Zaire. Niners bitch! They’re prepping the release of their debut LP, Ridin’ High, which features the likes of Phonte, Blu, Torae, Tunji, Supastition, Cali Agents and more. With a line up of emcees like that you can’t expect anything less than dope. Illmind’s group Fortilive & Nino Moshella are also on The Times but Shake’s a sucker for short titles. Shouts to RH for the hook up.
I have to admit… I’m a bit jealous of this one. Shit’s dope! Although when it comes to Halloween, Shake is that dude. Especially the last three years. People are fucking with me haha.
