Some of the best DJs in the world are In Search of Stoney Jackson. Madlib meets Strong Arm Steady, pick it up now at Stones Throw.

Madlib fans get your eardrums ready. 2010 is about to be a hot year.
Madlib is launching the Madlib Medicine Show, a once-a-month, twelve-CD, six-LP series. The Madlib Medicine Show will be a combination of Madlib’s new hip-hop productions, remixes, beat tapes, and jazz, as well as mixtapes of funk, soul, Brazilian, psych, jazz and other undefined forms of music from the Beat Konducta’s 4-ton stack of vinyl.
The first in the series will be a collab effort with Guilty Simpson called Before the Verdict. A prelude to their upcoming OJ Simpson album. Yea… Stones Throw is the shit.

Dopeboyz & dopegirlz… meet Mayer Hawthorne. The latest signee to Stones Throw who will be dropping his debut album, A Strange Arrangement, on October 6th.
Hawthorne, a 29 year-old white kid from Ann Arbor, has produced an album’s worth of stunning soul songs that eschew the retro tag that was so easily assignable to, say, an Amy Winehouse, in favor of something completely new. While the imprint of Curtis Mayfield (check Mayer’s impeccably smooth falsetto), Dozier & Holland and other classic soul songwriters is evident in these songs, the album drips with a sound as influenced by the beat-heavy hip-hop generation that Hawthorne comes from, as much as it does Motown or Muscle Shoals. From doo-wop handclaps and harmonies to Charles Wright-esque uptempo funk numbers, this is pure soul songwriting in its most modern form.
Above you can check the video for his single (which is available on a red, heart-shaped 7-inch vinyl via Stones Throw) and below is a cover of the theme song for Showtime’s Weeds. A joint in which he completed in 45 minutes after Showtime asked a handful of artists to cover the theme. And based off what I’m reading… there’s a possibility we could see Blu and/or Danny remixing it. Just random thoughts… and if you like what you hear, hit the jump for more.

We show artists twelve inches and talk about those records and the musical influence and significance they had or still have. We get to know how that particular record was recorded or what the artwork stands for. In our premier show, Stones Throw CEO Peanut Butter Wolf reveals several untold stories.
Or do you know that Madlib had to produce “Shades of Blue” twice, due to an unfortunate incident? Do you know the story behind the Jaylib record? Or how Guilty Simpson landed on Stones Throw?
MP3s don’t tell those stories and CDs are crap anyway, on that note: save the vinyl!
splash!-Mag chops it up with the CEO of Stones Throw Records about the most successful Stones Throw records of all times, why Madlib doesn’t like touring, a possible Hudson Mohawke/Stones Throw collab and his view on the label these days.

The homie DJ Rhettmatic linked up with MED for the 45th Stones Throw podcast. 10 new tracks and guest shots from MED; featuring Guilty Simpson, PPP, Dilla, Just Blaze, Talib Kweli, Rapper Big Pooh and more.
Tracklist + Download link after the jump…

Who is Ms.One you ask? Well it’s the production alias of Stones Throw’s Georgia Anne Muldrow. Who is that you ask? Google it. She recently released compilation that features her producing cuts for the likes of her Epistrophik Peach Sound crew, amongst others. Black Milk & Rapper Big Pooh being in the others category. 2 MCs is actually Georgia’s remix to Mello Music Group’s Drugs Outside (originally produced by Oddisee); that I swear I posted but can’t find the link *shrugs. Anways.. shouts to FreshSelects on the late first listen, who also has a few select bonuses you might enjoy.
