Honestly, I’m surprised nobody thought of this earlier. By the way, unless you’re a person whose music I like or you are Mickey Factz himself sending these, I won’t drop anymore after this joint. This sucker jumped the shark quickfast.
I don’t even have to speak on this, the line up says enough. Lessondary! New joint from Jermiside & Brickbeats (The Red Giatnts) featuring some of 2dopeboyz’ favorites. Off their Chain Reaction album.
Spec Boogie sits down with CDR to speak on the Loosie movement, his latest mixtape (Dollar Sign Language), why his music is made from the heart and more. Hit the jump for a pretty dope freestyle session between Spec Boogie & Elucid.
On a semi-related note, this is how you get my attention personally: continually dropping hot verse after hot verse, week after week. Some new music from the Lessondary member. Enough said.
I gotta jump into this dinner real quick. I’ll let Spec and Elucid handle this one:
Spec Boogie’s got a problem. He just can’t help being so fucking dope. Showing his typical versatility, Spec flexes over the NYC hipster club banger favorite ‘Tight Pants.’ Meanwhile, you can’t keep Gutta out of the damn gutter. Cranking up the volume a bit, Elucid is back with a trashy stick up kid narrative over a punky dub banger by 77Klash, ‘Code of the Streets.’
*sips Airborne. I’m in no mood to type so I’ll let the email do the talking…
Back off hiatus, we’re here at the Loosie compound fully reloaded and ready to squeeze. First up, Spec Boogie with an original joint produced by Suburb called Vics. Get the victory or be a victim. Motivational banger status. Next, Elucid is out in the devils playground toying with ideas of nihilism and paranoia with a remix of Gnarls Barkley’s Would Be Killer. Play this only at night.
Damn, as if the other Lessondary posse cut wasn’t enough. Spec Boogie, Von, Elucid team up again. This time bringing in Cyren Young for this incredible track. I’m really feeling the vibe of this whole record. Today was a great day for hip hop right? Shouts to Khal where I swooped up on the picture and shouts to Che Grand just because I can. What!?
If you we’re smart and you tuned into (the almighty) Tanya Morgan on Sugatreats the other night you’d know there was something special on the way and that the dopeboyz would be one of the first to drop it (aside Von of course). The line up is pretty self explanitory on how dope this cut really is. The production is a fresh mix of N.E.R.D.’s Everyone Nose and some slick piano/percussion. UPDATE: I’ve also added a link to Spec Boogie’s “Calling Me,” also featuring Von Pea, Elucid & Cyren Young.
If you’re feeling this (which you should) and you’re in the NY area be SURE to hit up the Knitting Factory on June23rd as TM, Che Grand, Spec Boog and Elucid will be performing (flyer after the jump). While we’re on the topic of dope music… Tanya Morgan is readying a tour with Hieroglyphics as part of their Freshly Dipped Tour. Starting out west in Pomona & LA then heading counter clockwise around the US & Canada for a 45 date, three month-long journey. Check after the jump for tour dates…
My fault on not posting this sooner (sorry Elucid!). It took me a second email from the emcee to post haha. Normally I’d speak my own thoughts on a track I put up but the email I received is just too good to overlook. Elucid must have balls constructed of highly-polished, rust-resistant titanium to rap over the irresistible bop of Suzanne Vega’s classic Tom’s Diner. Come on now. But like everything else he does, it works. Elucid spins a voyeuristic third-person narrative of infidelity witnessed from a window in his customary vivid poeticism. Along with Elucid’s track, they also sent out a track from Spec‘s recent Dollar Sign Language mixtape.
This week for the Loosie Weekly Warning Shots, Spec Boogie drops new mixtape with Digital Gravel. The Dollar Sign Language mixtape marks the Bed-Stuy emcee’s third mixtape. Pretty fresh after one listen, I dig the topics that are covered and I like how Spec does more than just remixes a song, he redoes it. Makes it completely different. Mixed by DJ Noumenon (of Scratch Academy). Be on the lookout for the Bed Stuy EP which drops in June.
