SOBs has made it’s way from a Brazilian club, to a well known venue in hip-hop. Over the past decade it has really solidified it’s name as the place where new artists are being broken. Larry Gold started this club in 1982 and hasn’t looked back since. In this interview with Larry is Le’Roy Benros, the man behind booking all the up and coming talent. In part 1 of the interview we talk about the history of the club, the history of hip-hop at the venue, and how the club made it’s name for breaking rap artists. – Al Lindstrom
Some up-close footage of Bobby Ray doing his thing at SOBs in NYC the other night. Up top he performs his new single (which you can download here); while after the jump is Mello Fellow, On Top of the World, I Feed These Streets, Satellite and Generation Lost. Shouts to OneNeckTwoChains on the heads up.
Yesterday we posted a brief glimpse, now it’s time for Melanie Fiona’s entire performance at SOBs. Above is her rendition of Killing Me Softly. Hit the jump for some more…
MADonly just fired over this brief glimpse at Melanie Fiona tearing down SOBs tonight. The clip above is basically a continuance of this. Look for more footage tomorrow (Wednesday).
Hot97 finally puts up the official footage of Drake’s performance at SOBs in late May. Shiit, even I’m not that late with footage haha. Part 2-3 after the jump…
AllTheWayLive got some exclusive audio of CuDi’s performance at SOBs The Nokia Theatre during his set of The Great Hangover Tour w/ Asher Roth, B.o.B & 88-Keys.
CuDi, who was average at best when I saw him live previously, absolutely stepped his game up and was great. His unique stage design is intricately scripted with a myriad of lights and video to create an often jaw-dropping and stunning visual backdrop for Mr. Solo Dolo. The visuals and lighting effects are all carefully synched with the beats and come together in perfect harmony with his style of music. This is easily reminiscent of Kanye’s infamous Glow In The Dark tour.
The folks were going wild on the Twitter about Drake’s performance at the Hot97 Who’s Next showcase with Peter Rosenberg in NYC tonight. Miss Info was saying there was like 980215 cameras. Smh @ that being hip hop now. Folks don’t even go to shows to enjoy them anymore. They go to get that “exclusive” footage that 980214 other folks have. Anyways… here’s the first round of footage courtesy of Hot97 (via Miss Info).
The unofficial first lady of NMC sits down with Joe Budden, Joell Ortiz, Crooked I & Royce Da 5’9″ for a candid interview at SOBs. Part 2 after the jump…
So Amalgam Digital redeems themselves (sort of) from the epic fail of a live stream when Joe Budden, Royce Da 5’9″, Crooked I & Joell Ortiz did their thing at SOBs this past week; as they put up a good quality video of the entire performance.
Finally a nice bit of footage from Slaughterhouse’s performance at SOBs last night hits the internet (thanks to the homie Andreas over at BET.com and miss info). Above you can check the crew performing Onslaught a capella (miss info) and after the jump you can catch freestyles from Joell Ortiz, Royce & Crooked I. Royce also performs Boom. More to come I’m sure.
