Back in 2008, Atmosphere’s frontman checked in with Mr. Peter Parker on B96 and went off the head for a good eight minutes to help promote the first ever Soundset festival. Flash forward six years and the Rhymesayers Entertainment curated festival is bigger than ever and is going down this Sunday in Shakopee, MN. Currently sitting in a hotel room in downtown MPLS waiting for my fourth experience of the festivities, me and the homie Zeke decided to bring this clip back to the top of the 2DBZ pages for y’all to enjoy.
I’m sure Shake will enjoy this one. Ill and Block will drop their collaborative effort Capture The Sun on April 16th, and the project’s first single features none other than the Atmosphere spitter.
I first met Tony Bones at Mod Sun’s homecoming concert earlier this year. And after rolling up some good trees, he let me know he had a single with Slug and D.I.T.C’s A.G. on the horizon. And while the single itself can be found on his We Only Live Once LP; you can check the official video up top.
The big homie Slug joins Copywrite over some RJD2 production for the latest single release off the upcoming MHz Legacy album, dropping October 30th via Man Bites Dog Recrods.
This track can be found on the upcoming Flood Watch compilation. But most of us will grab it for the Slug feature, and rightfully so. Props to Zeke for the heads up.
Abstract Rude and Musab (Sab the Artist) have collaborated on a project called The Awful Truth, an EP produced by Ganzobean. Here is the first offering from it, featuring a couple familiar faces.
With DJ Sidereal providing the flip of Fun’s We Are Young, Sluggo teams up with Minnesota up and comers Kaleem and Master Mind iDV to do their emcee thing.
Speaking of MPLS… I’m back out there next month. Get ready.
Incase y’all didn’t know, Nino Bless and Slug have a joint together in the stash (that I need to hear sooner than later… hint hint). And for the second episode of his new radio series, Nino has the Atmosphere front man call in to chop it up. During the interview Slug speaks on the open box that Atmosphere is now placed in, joining Twitter, his love for hip hop and how it’s evolved over the years, being a fan of the likes of Gunplay and Fozzie Bear, the difference of coming up in the game back in the 90′s as compared to today and more.
On the music front, we get new/old music from the likes of Yelawolf, Kanye West, Atmosphere, The LOX, Jay-Z, DMX, Joe Budden, some dub step and more.
Well well well.. what do we have here!? An unreleased cut from Ace, Slug and Eyedea? Yeah, my day is made. I’ll let Aesop take it from here.
This was one of the songs we had recorded on what I believe was Slug and Eyedea’s first trip to NYC. If memory serves, we ended up not keeping it because it didn’t really have any direction or structure – it was more just us 4 bugging out and getting to know each other. The same trip yielded “Missed by a Mile” with the same line-up, as well as another one or two that never saw the light of day. As my deadline for Labor Days was approaching I knew I wanted to use the beat for my record, so this version was dismantled.
And while the song is available for the low-low price of an email address, any and all donations will go to helping Mr. Dibbs with his recently incurred medical expenses. For those that don’t know, the DJ/producer was recently diagnosed with Cirrhosis (which is the final phase of chronic liver disease) and the cost of treatment is out of this world. Anything will help!
Exclusive premiere of the Slug and Aesop Rock assisted (and my most anticipated) track off Evidence’s upcoming Cats & Dogs LP, due out September 27th. Debuted on RSE Radio the other night (be sure to check out the full interview with Ev here).

Speaking of Slug, while out in Canadaland he sat down with TheComeUpShow to talk about Atmosphere’s direction and priorities. Check part one of the interview after the jump.
