We’ve been hearing noise of Royce Da 5’9″, Joe Budden, Crooked I and Joell Ortiz being in the studio, and today Shady Records makes it a fact. Releasing a new statement that the new age four horsemen are officially in the lab cooking up their next offering. And as an added bonus, Just Blaze has been called on to Executive Produce.
The Core Four are spending the month of June in a secret location in New York City cooking up something new with a team of producers including the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, Araab Muzik and Just Blaze. Just Blaze is set to serve as the album’s Executive Producer.
Each member also offered their own thoughts; which I’ve included below.
A half decade after he originally released his debut album Perception Is Everything, DJ K.O. has finally acquired the rights to the masters and has decided to re-release the LP. Check out one of stand outs below and hit the jump to stream the rest of the project that features the likes of Rapper Big Pooh, Masta Ace, Phonte, Emilio Rojas, 9th Wonder, Oddisee, Analogic, M-Phazes and more.
While at the GIG-IT launch, the machine revealed to XXL that they have begun working on their third album (the second to be released under the Shady umbrella).
“We’re getting started with the recording process like, yesterday,” Royce Da 5’9″ revealed. “We’re getting on that album. We’ve got some pretty big announcements to be excited about. We’re trying to work that out right now, so that’s pretty much where we are at the present time.”
Crook and Joell also stated that the group has put their solo projects on hold until they complete the SH album.
As the title states, Big Sean, Eminem, Mr. Porter and Nickle Nine were all recently in the studio together. No word on what exactly was worked on but Big Sean has hinted at a possible collab with Eminem in the past and both of them have albums scheduled to drop this year. We’ll just have to wait and see.
Havoc is dropping a new solo (sigh…) project, 13, his follow-up to his 2007 solo debut. For its first magic tric, he grabs Nickel Nine to ride shotgun over this banger.
It’s been awhile since we’ve heard something solo from Royce. So today, he decided “get the dust off” and hit Twitter with a quick 32 bar freeverse over Kanye West and Nas’ “We Major”.
