Royce Da 5’9″ x Crooked I x Pharoahe Monch Live @ SOBs (Video)

Vibe was on hand to capture footage from last night’s Manhattan alternative to the Biggie Smalls $100 ticket tribute party fuckery in Brooklyn (complete with the requisite brawl for nothing at all). More footage down bottom.

Royce Da 5’9″ On Sound Session (Video)

Soon after Slaughterhouse came through Sound Session, Royce returned to Seattle for another show and dropped by the studio again. This time, we wrapped up the Slaughterhouse project and looked towards his newly released Street Hop album. We also discussed his relationship with Eminem in detail, including his first interaction with Em and the early Bad Meets Evil sessions. It was a real dope convo covering a bunch of topics, so I’ve broken them up into 3 parts again. – DJ Hyphen

Check out parts two and three under the cut.

Royce x Shady?

We all know that Twitter remarks aren’t really “news” or even “truth” for that matter, but if this were to be true you have to take a few things into consideration:

If he signed only Royce, would we get another “Bad Meets Evil” or another Rock City (Version 2.0)?

If he signed Slaughterhouse, could the Interscope overlords turn them into a commercially viable act and not another D12?

Outside of Fiddy, name me one act/group under Shady that’s been able to sustain relevance. I’ll wait…

Remember Stat Quo, Cashis and Bobby Creekwater? Exactly.

All in all, while it would be a good look for Nickel Nine, I’m not fully convinced that this would truly be a good thing. On the other hand, on the heels of the massive fail somewhat disappointing sales of the Slaughterhouse album, there isn’t any much lower one could go this would definitely be an upgrade.

The track under the cut though was ridiculous, though, and I’d like to see more of that if this were true.

Royce Da 5’9″ Talks Eminem, Shady Records & Young Money (Video)

…”Who’s to say Slaughterhouse and Eminem ain’t did a record already?” And then he laughed. I caught up with Slaughterhouse member and Detroit emcee Royce Da 5’9 yesterday after his MTV interview made hip-hop headlines when he confirmed the Shady Records rumors. He answered three of the biggest questions fans have been asking and compared the situation to what Young Money has been able to do, which, in my opinion, was a great analogy. He finished by saying, “Slaughterhouse signing to Shady Records is not a guarantee to me or to Slaughterhouse.”

Slaughterhouse – KDAY 93.5 The Beat Freestyle (Video)

The reason why that title is like that above is simple. Soon after KDAY – the legendary hip hop station from the 80s – relaunched a few years ago, rival radio station 100.3 The Beat (formerly known as 92.3 The Beat) went the way of the dirk-toothed cat. Fast forward a few years later (I had been stopped listening to the radio by this point) and all of the sudden KDAY got swallowed up and how now become The Beat. What does all of this mean? Hip hop music in Los Angeles has gone the way of the African Wild Ass. Anyways, here’s a Sluaghterhouse freestyle.

Royce Da 5’9″ – 8-11

First, it was Crooked. Now it’s Nickelback’s turn. I’m sensing a trend…
