Hillary takes some shots. [/yep, pun intended even if it doesn't work]. You have Rising Down yet? Also, ?uest sits down with DJ Hyphen on Sound Session (KUBE 93). Lots of great stuff here. From Rising Down to the Al Green & Marvin Gaye albums, Obama, Black Thougghts underated’ness. And you know the audio is provided now. They always hold it down with the interviews. This is of course after the jump!
Styles P joined The Roots to perform the title track to Rising Down live on Sirius Radio. Shouts to Green Lantern! Also, the Best of Both Offices presented me with some video footage of David Banner during the same session. Backed by The Roots, Banner spits some lines about Sean Bell and other NYPD fuckery (after the jump). Shake’s putting together a Sean Bell post now, but I might not post it until tonight since I’ll be chillin at The Box Office Gallery gettin live with CunninLynguists and Substantial. I’ll also be talkin to Kno so we’ll see where that goes.
I was going to make a post about The Roots regardless if I had anything new to add (I do, so it’s a bonus) just to tell ya’ll to cop Rising Down which is in stores today! The Roots had a pretty intense day yesterday. From a performance on Letterman with Wale and Chrisette Michele to a jam session on Green Lantern’s Hip Hop Nation Radio show to their release party at Sutra in NYC (check OKP for the full break down, with pictures and all). This post consists of the GL appearance. Shouts to my dude Shamz who was in the building!
I’ve been bumpin the shit out this album for a week or so. It just doesn’t get old. I said I wouldn’t post any tracks until it leaked on the net, etc. Well, the inevitable happened. If you want more, look elsewhere because this is all I’m posting. This track right here … is just too damn good not to! Saigon jumps on the microphone with Black Thought and they do what they do best. Philly emcee Truck North handles his own as well. Being on a track with those two beasts has got to be a task. Just like Atmosphere, I can’t stress it enough that you cop a hard copy of this album! Rising Down hits stores next week (April 29th!).
Being away from the computer for a day is brutal when you do what I do haha. Here’s an alternative version of Rising Down that was recorded when the original almost got canned due to sample clearances. Shouts to my dude femi over at OKP! Also, the album just went on pre-sale. Cop that!
Now that Birthday Girl has been knocked off the US version of Rising Down (it’s now a iTunes Bonus Track), The Roots need a new single. How about this incredibly dope cut featuring Wale (what up Amanda?) and the ever-so-talented Chrisette Michele? Yes please. Fans of Birthday Girl can still be hyped, as The Roots will be shooting a viral video starring goth porn queen, Sasha Grey. Interesting.
The artwork for the upcoming Roots LP is above (check after the jump for a larger version). ?uest breaks down the meaning behind it over at OKP. Here is another new joint off the album, which drops April 29th on Def Jam. Featuring Mos Def (rapping), Styles P & Dice Raw [click for lyrics].
So I’m in the process of shutting down the PC and laptop when I get a random (yet inevitable) IM from my dude Mr. Ketchum with some even more random video. Which features clips of Fall Out Boy’s lead singer, Patrick Stump. Who cares right? Well as I’m watching the video I hear a familiar voice begin rhyming. Who? Well if you read the title of this post you know haha. Black Thought starts his verse and I realize “oh shit, this is their single”. I make a few more IM’s and BAM … the audio is in the inbox. So enjoy the lead single to The Roots upcoming LP, Rising Down.
Here is the second video off their upcoming album, Rising Down. Rik Coredero (do I even need to say his name anymore?) on the direction. And check below for a real mastered version of the .mp3. Enjoy!
No download link for now, sorry guys! Fresh new cut off Rising Down in stores April 29th and Shake is definitely coppin’. Be on the look out for the video on Friday.
