Three/21 presents the world premiere of the “How To Change” music video featuring the homies Joell Ortiz and The Kickdrums off the highly anticipated “Inside A Change” Mixtape. The video’s premise is very simple: a full band playing in the courtyard of Brooklyn’s Cooper Houses. Checkout the horn section in the hood.
SHAKE UPDATE: Speaking of… hit the jump for the latest episode of the Inside the Craft series w/ Illmind….
Official trailer for Rik Cordero and Three/21 Media’s feature film Inside A Change. And if you hit the jump you can check out their first special feature The Origin of Inside a Change.
As I’ve said a few times, I was basically without an internet connection since Friday night. And the times it would connect it moved slower than the AOL days. It was pretty brutal. That being said a few things didn’t get posted so I’ll use this to “catch up”. Above you can check a new video from Ricky Ross. Then after the jump there’s shit from Joell Ortiz, Jim Jones, AlBe Back, Alchemist, Drake, Rain, Ya Boy, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco and more.
We’ve gotten a few looks at the upcoming video from the Slaughterhouse machine, now it’s time for some official behind the scenes. Courtesy of Thee 21/Media…
Last week, Three/21 and the infamous Slaughterhouse crew shot The One video which is their upcoming single off their upcoming E1 Records debut. The entire video takes place in the penthouse of the Night Hotel and amidst all the debauchery and drunkeness, the fellas manage to spit serious fire power (insert Joe Budden Pause reaction shot). Enjoy the official Behind The Scenes footage.
Official video for the Kickdrums produced record off Rik Cordero & Three/21 Media‘s Inside A Change OST/mixtape dropping next month. Speaking of Inside A Change, the plantation just put up the first review.
About two weeks ago, Three/21, The Kickdrums and Joell Ortiz headed out to Brooklyn’s Cooper Projects to shoot an impromptu live band performance of How To Change”, a song featured on the Inside A Change mixtape featuring Joell Ortiz and produced by The Kickdrums. We shot this one in the middle of the courtyard, complete with a horn section, bassist, drummer and keyboardist. Now if the New York City Housing Authority would install more of these instead of NYPD security cameras, the world would be a much happier place. Enjoy!
Yet another reason New York = Los Angeles¹ > *insert city*
Wale let us know he’d be dropping a video on Thursday, we guessed it would be this. Starring Anwan Glover aka Slim Charles from The Wire (as the pimp named Sport), Dominique Andriese (as the prostitute named Iris) and EJ Stanley (as Travis the young child). The song itself will be represented on Rik Cordero’s Inside a Change OST.
Wale has been keeping us up to date on his upcoming mixtape through his Twitter. It looks like we should all blame Nicki Minaj for the delay haha. Tomorow we’re getting another leak and Thursday we’ll get a new video. Overall… it looks like a great week for Wale fans. This post though, we get a behind the scenes look at Wale & Rik Cordero’s upcoming video for Family Affair (I’m guessing, the video we’ll get on Thursday). The song — which examines a dysfunctional family structure between a pimp, prostitute and a child — will also be feautured on Cordero’s Inside a Change OST. Here’s a little piece of the sypnosis:
Like a drug addiction, some women have a tendency to be influenced by money and power in ways we’ve never thought possible. For women who engage in prostitution their self value and judgments of character are often skewed by their pimps who present themselves as lovers or father-figures. Our story takes place as a conversation between three characters whose lives are intertwined in a tragic circle of psychological intimidation and manipulation.
So Rik Cordero is up for the BET Award for Video Director of the Year. And with the help of the dopeboyz/girlz, maybe we can give him a boost. I’d like to think my vote (I was part of the voting academy this year) helped a bit to get him on the nominations list. And I could go on and on about why he should take it all, but nation did a great job in doing that so I’ll just quote him (I’m lazy today).
Granted, he knows BET isn’t exactly his playground but imagine if he were to win this, what kind of message that would be sending out. Despite that it’s a poll of who the public thinks should win, it might have more of an effect on the final winner than you think. Rik really got his start on these here internets and he’s embraced this culture for everything it could be. I don’t doubt any one of those nominees’ talent, but for what it’s worth – Rik loves this shit as much as any of us do and has put out quality content online for years now. If anyone should win the people’s vote, it should be undoubtedly be Rik Cordero.
We dropped a promo back in early February. Now the Rik Cordero directed video is upon us. Featuring footage of Ali’s live show at the Malcolm X & Betty Shabazz Center Fresh. I seriously hope you aren’t sleeping on the big bad Brother still. You can find this on The Truth Is Here EP.
