For as long as I’ve been doing this here internet thing (5+ years with 2DBZ, 5+ years with HipHopDX), Young Sav and his Best of Both Offices partner Steve-O (pictured on the left) have always held it down with Def Jam releases and laced the internets with that new’ness. Now Kendal Freeman has a new title to represent: Vice President of Maybach Music Group. In a statement to Billboard, Sav had the following to say about his new venture.
I am extremely excited to embark on this new path in my career. I appreciate Ross for noticing my grind, work ethic and giving me a major opportunity to not only be apart of this label, but also help execute his vision. It’s going to be a privilege to work with the brand and assist in taking it to the next tier. All of the artists on the roster are amazing. I’m ready to get to work.
With Rick Ross adding the following:
Feels great calling one of the hardest workers and few people I consider a close friend the new VP of MMG.

The “OVOOG” lends his purple touch to Drake’s drops from this week. Props to X for the, well, exclusive.

Rockie is gearing up to drop a new projet (again), The Birthday Tape, next week, and with his birthday being today he drops this new track featuring his MMG boss and produced by one half of TNGHT.
Rozay revisits last year’s God Forgives, I Don’t and shoots a video for the LP’s upcoming clip alongside Maybach O.

With a promise of two new Drake-related singles this week, DJ Khaled looks to recreate the magic he had with “I’m On One” by recruiting the same culprits for the first single off his ucpoming Suffering From Success LP. UPDATE: CDQ.
Try saying that three times fast. Now Rocko chimes in on the backlash Blurred Tits has received because of his verse on Rocko’s own single (which, ironically, Rocko had pulled in favor of a new verse from Wiz Khalifa).
Finally, Rick has apologized for the verse. Check down bottom for the official press release.

According to the almighty TMZ the subsidiary of Adidas has nixed their business relationship with one William Leonard Roberts II due to his “U.O.E.N.O.” situation.
Reebok tells TMZ … “Reebok holds our partners to a high standard, and we expect them to live up to the values of our brand. Unfortunately, Rick Ross has failed to do so.”
Reebok goes on: “While we do not believe that Rick Ross condones sexual assault, we are very disappointed he has yet to display an understanding of the seriousness of this issue or an appropriate level of remorse.”
Rick has gone on to send out a few half-hearted explanations and apologies in the wake of his verse on Rocko’s song, which prompted Rocko to remove him altogether from the song.
Seriously, all he had to do was give a sincere apology, and none of this mess would have ever happened (or even better, he shouldn’t have had that verse green-lighted in the first place, but I digress). If he had of, for once, removed the cloak of invincibility he’s worn for his entire career and at the very least pretend he felt like he had some form of cognitive understanding of the mess those two bars created, none of this would have happened and nobody would really care at the end of the day. Now, duke is out of an endorsement deal, having to 86 concerts and is looked at as a scumbag in some folks’ eyes.
But I’m sure it’s not like he cares or anything, anyways. Hence, neither should we when he essentially got his comeuppance because of it.

Rocko phoned into Hot 97 to speak with Ebro and K. Foxx on his much buzzed about street single “U.O.E.N.O.” as well as Rick Ross’ controversial date rape lyrics and deciding to remove him from the record. He also spoke on the upcoming remix, Future and Ciara’s relationship, his previous relationship with Monica, and more. Hear the entire interview after the jump.
