Ugly Heroes (Apollo Brown, Verbal Kent & Red Pill) – Graves

Apollo Brown, Verbal Kent and Red Pill are teaming up as the Ugly Heroes. And with their newly-formed group comes a new self-titled album (May 28, pre-orders available now). Take a listen to the first single (courtesy of NR) below and let us know what you think.

An Ugly Hero is considered a myth. Growing up, the heroes we saw in cartoons and movies were perfectly chiseled, intelligent, and had senses none of us possess. An UGLY HERO is the everyday blue collar individual that makes the world go ’round. These are the heroes that work hard all day, everyday to help ensure that the lives around them are taken care of, and do it all without recognition. They wear themselves into the ground and sacrifice vanity for family.

Red Pill & Hir-O – Waiting On A Train (Video)

For the past month I’ve been stuck in a rut and basically just going through the motions of the day to day life, with no real drive or motivation that I once prided myself in having (I know… cool story Shake). So when the Detroit producer/emcee duo came through with this “Waiting On A Train” single? I had to run it back a few times and realize I relate to far too much of what Red Pill is saying. Solution? Stop making excuses and make it a point to progress with each passing day. Obviously this site isn’t my personal journal, but some songs speak to me more than others and I get the urge to type a bit. *shrugs… those digging the song should be on the lookout for the duo’s The Kick; which is stated to drop January 15th.

Red Pill – Please Tip Your Driver (LP)

Yesterday I posted some footage of One Be Lo rhyming alongside some artist I was completely unaware of, Red Pill. Being impressed by what I heard I decided to venture around the internets and find out if he had any music out there. Turns out he recently released this album back in January. A culmination of the last two years of his life, for better or for worse.

One Be Lo & Red Pill – F.O.K.U.S. Radio Freestyle (Video)

One Be Lo & Red Pill trade bars over Scoop DeVille’s I Wanna Rock during their time on F.O.K.U.S Radio. Earlier on the show, One Be Lo discussed his upcoming album B.A.B.Y. (Being A Black Youth) that has a tentative release date of April 27th. Featuring the likes of Devin the Dude, Freeway, Royce Da 5’9″, Zumbi (Zion I) and more. He also said that we can expect a mixtape — entitled Labor — before the album. Great news, One Be Lo is dope as hell.
