Tonight Eminem had a homecoming show in Detroit. And since it’s Em related you know YN was gonna be in attendance (ha!). Before getting into his single (We Made You) Em pays respect to Proof. Then after the jump he transforms into Shady and rips through Underground. More footage is coming, I’m sure.
Can you believe it’s been three years today since he passed? I don’t usually like to post tribunes on an artist’s death, but I’ll make the exception this one time. Props to khal.
Detroit’s own Quest M.C.O.D.Y. is readying the release of his upcoming debut album, The Light Project, and Shake has a few treats for ya’ll. Royce Da 5’9″, Guilty Simpson & MarvWon jump on the remix to Fade Back and Proof gets a dope dedication on Dreamin‘. While you’re at it, hit up MiHH for an recent interview. What up William!?
After two solid listens of Ras Kass’ latest effort, Institutionalized v2, I’m still undecided but it’s not that bad. Not bad at all. With that being said here are a few joints to give you something to listen to. The Crooked I assisted joint originally came out on Blue Sky Black Death’s album and I posted it at the plantation back in October but I’ll post for shits and giggles anyways.
It’s been 2 years since the D-12 emcee lost his life over some bullshit. I hate this world sometimes. About 2 months ago I got the honor to meet Proof’s mother. At a Strong Arm Steady video shoot of all places. I was wearing my fallen soldiers shirt (it has the last names of all the fallen rappers in the game). She grabbed my hand and pointed at Holton “that’s me” I was confused and just smiled. Then she asked if I knew who it was. It’s Proof of course. “Yes that’s me, I’m Proof’s mother.” As short as that was, it was touching and something I’ll remember for life. Rest in peace Deshaun Holton.
Another week, another crazy track. And you already know who brings it to you first! This time Crooked dismantles Proof’s Forgive Me track. The last minute is on some real controversial shit, the next few weeks are gonna be nuts. Geeeez.
