Canadian radio show CBC streamed a new leak from Prince (backed with 3rd Eye Girl) which is set to appear on his new album, tentatively titled Plectrum Electrum earlier this morning. The song (a radio rip) titled FixUrLifeUp is Prince in classic form with that funkieness we’ve all come to expect from him sprinkled in for good measure. Along with the working album title, tour dates were also announced which you can peep after the jump. Stream only below. Peace to OKP on the heads up.
A few weeks ago seemingly everybody and their mothers were on hand at New York’s Carnegie Hall for a tribute concert to Prince, and the day before they all converged at Manhattan’s City Winery for a rehearsal session. While there, OKPTV spoke on the legend of The Kid.
ATCQ reuniting once again would’ve been a huge highlight by itself, but then The Kid decided to make his SXSW debut by doing a reported six encores. Check it out up top and down bottom, courtesy of Mikey Fresh.
I spent this past weekend home in Los Angeles for the Grammys weekend, and while at my gig during an industry event I saw
* Chad Hugo (who, like Pharrell, does not age either)
* Donald Glover
* That “Call Me Maybe” chick
* Prince, who was in the company of two dime pieces and rocking a pimp cane
That was the most G shit I saw that entire night. Anyways, the legendary one has released a video for his latest song, which you can cop on his site.
Prince has launched a new website, 3rdEyeGirl, and has been releasing his songs there including this track. Better take a listen to this groovy cut now before he shuts downs the stream since, you know, he secretly owns the Internets.
Last night, Prince took to his website to release his latest single. A funky upbeat follow-up to 2012′s “Rock & Roll Love Affair” and another reason to hope for another LP.
I don’t know how long this will last online – since we all know Prince runs the Internets with an iron-clad, purple fist – so enjoy this small preview of a new song from the Gawd during a jam session at the Dakota Jazz Club in Minneapolis, MN. Props to OKP.
As you may know, Prince is currently setting up shop in Chicago, and after he finished rocking out one show he took a couple friends to Chicago’s House of Blues for this epic jam session. Listen to a piece below, then head over to Funk It’s home to grab the entire thing.
Let’s see how long this stays online, since we all know Prince doesn’t like the Internets. During his Chi-Town concert, J-Hud comes out to perform the original version of his song which Sinead O’Connor would cover.
This guy is a boss, and we all just live in his world.
The co-creator of Chappelle’s Show is the subject of Grantland’s “Animated Archives,” and tells this awesomely hilarious tale of what exactly happened after Dave dropped that sketch on Prince’s basketball skills. Much props to The Smoking Section.
