Another day of sleeping in? Yes, please! Brothers Like & Mibbs with longtime friend BeYoung tear down LA’s The Key Club for okayplayerTV. Check above for a nice little interview, then after the jump for the goods. Be on the lookout this Summer for their Role Players blendtape, then later on for their major label debut, The Grown Kid Syndrome.

Skillz – Sick

Skillz included part of this song in the end of his latest video with Talib Kweli. Now I know people people were wanting the full audio. So here it is folks. I love how he incorporates the “I was sick before…” style that he used in one of my favorite freestyle sessions ever (which I included as well). And remember to cop Million Dollar Backpack on July22nd! Another gem courtesy of OKP.

Dice Raw – Been Down

Browsing the internets on this slower than molasses Tuesday morning I see that OKP has put up a new Dice Raw joint. Dope. D.R.’s been doing it for over 14 years now. Runnin with the Roots crew since ’94. And according to dantana there’s atleast 75 unreleased joints chillin. I wonder if those will ever come out. I need some more Nouveau Riche though!

J*DaVey on OkayplayerTV (Video)

[vimeo 1186981]

Before I get into the post I want to express something. Shake is not a fan of soccer (by any means) but I just watched the last 10 minutes of this Croatia/Turkey game and wow. That was awesome! Croatia scored with barely anytime left to go up 1-0, then Turkey came through in the clutch to force a shoot out with no time left. Good stuff. Now onto the incredibly dope J*DaVey. I really really need to see them in concert. Like really. Ms. Jack Davey is stunning. Above there is an interview they did with OKTV and after the jump I’ve included clips of them performing a few choice cuts at the Key Club. Pretty sure my man Tunji handled the footage so shouts to him.

Skillz – The Million Dollar Backpack (Artwork x Tracklist)

OKP just dropped the official artwork and tracklisting for Skillz upcoming album, The Million Dollar Backpack (dropping July 22nd) on Big Kidz Entertainment/Koch. Guest spots from The Roots, Talib Kweli, Common & Freeway you know it’s gonna be hot. I’ve liked all the tracks that have leaked so far so I’m excited. Hit the jump for the full version of the cover and the tracklist… UPDATE: I’ve also added the video for “Don’t Act Like You Don’t Know,” featuring Freeway.

The Roots x Bun B – International Player’s Anthem (Live)

Everyday I visit OKP I can count on something dope being there. This time is no different as Bun B joins The Roots on stage in Houston to give an incredible live version of International Players Anthem. Rest in Peace Chad Butler. Speaking of The Roots, hit the jump for pt2 of Black Thought & ?uest’s interview with DJ Enuff where they discuss working with Peedi Crakk, the creation of the Money Making Jam Boys, who they check for musically and how they prepare for a performance.

88-Keys – Adam’s Case Files (Mixtape)

Wow, my man Shamz hit me with a fantastic email today. OKP just premiered the brand new mixtape from the ever-so-talented 88-Keys as a precursor to his upcoming album, The Death of Adam, which is executive produced by Kanye West. Do not sleep on this folks, with guest spots from Tanya Morgan, Guilty Simpson, Kid Cudi, Izza Kizza and more. You won’t be disappointed. Be on the lookout for the album in October!

Big L & J Dilla – Put it On (rmx) (Video)

The big homie Dan over at OKP just sent this over and damn. Nostalgia factor up! This is a track put together by DJ Soul that was on his fantastic Assorted Donuts mixtape. Big shouts to Ralph McDaniels for putting together the video.

Nas’ “Be a Nigger Too” Video Poster #4

The good folks at OKP take the honors of premiering the 4th poster for Nas’ upcoming video with Rik Cordero and three21media for Be a Nigger Too. What up Shamz? Dan? Full version after the jump, let’s go!

Phonte & DJ Brainchild Present: Gordon Gartrell Radio ep.1

Tigallo teamed up with The Lessondary’s own DJ Brainchild for what is hopefully a weekly podcast. How dope would this be if they stuck with it? Te is one hilarious dude, add that to his taste in music and we should be in for a treat. In the first episode Phonte discusses the unintentional comedy of fully-functional retards and the death of Hilary’s dreams. Of course they play some great tunes as well.

The Roots – Rising Down (Alternate Mix)

Being away from the computer for a day is brutal when you do what I do haha. Here’s an alternative version of Rising Down that was recorded when the original almost got canned due to sample clearances. Shouts to my dude femi over at OKP! Also, the album just went on pre-sale. Cop that!

Black Thought – WPPW Freestyle (1994)

20080404-roots.jpg

Thanks to the lovely new Roots blog for dropping this gem! Check Black Thought (of The Roots) circa 1994 on WPPW radio. I guess this was supposed to be a “bonus” track on their upcoming album, Rising Down, but they didn’t know the DJ so they couldn’t clear it. Booong! Thanks to my man Femi for the heads up. If you don’t check out The Roots’ blog, I advice you do… daily hourly. Shit’s dope. For instance, if you check it now, they have a great video of The Roots, A Tribe Called Quest and Consequence. Wooow.
