We saw the video, now check the mixtape joint that spawned the group. Off Jay iLLa’s Revenge of the Backpacks 2: Welcome to Chicago, dropping in March. Shoust to FSD.
LRG Presents Leaders of the New Cool NYC is going down tonight at 92Y Tribeca with performances by Curren$y, Mikkey Halsted, Esso, Skotch Davis, Nero, Rich Hil, Tiara Wiles, and Stalley. In anticipation for the show we had the lineup live on CDR: Crack Distributors Radio. I present to you a dope cipher with Nero, Mikkey Halsted, and ESSO over the Scenario [Remix]. – Shine
Last month we announced the formation of a new Chicago Hip Hop super group with Rhymefest, Mikkey Halsted, JUICE, and Twone Gabz. The foursome has been working since, and held their first official studio session last Sunday at SoundScape Studios. Michael Kolar got some exclusive footage and sent it our way…. Get Ready! – RHTV
Here’s a nice little treat courtesy of Cayex Illah a.k.a. The Centipede a.k.a Radio Illah (Illah). This version of Mikkey’s “Lifetime In Between The Papers Line”, was the original version cut for the Best You nEver Heard mixtape, but was later switched in lieu of an alternate Cayex version. I like them both, but I’m kinda partial to this one as it was the first one I’d ever heard. I’ll take them both, though. Judge for yourself.
Off Mikkey’s Best You nEver Heard mixtape, dropping February 11th. Shouts to FSD.

Rhymefest opened his set at the Haiti benefit show, Every Drop Counts, by performing a remake of LL Cool J’s 4, 3, 2, 1 alongside (the real) JUICE, Twone Gabz and Mikkey Halsted. They also announced that they have officially formed a group and our working on an album for a Summer release. Shouts to RubyHornet on the footage.
Two of the Midwest’s finest perform this ridiculously dope cut at the Leaders of the New Cool show last week. I’m still waiting on Shake to provide his own Mr. Wilson Wendall-style footage from the whole thing. Ha. Anyways, I’ve been waiting like gangbusters for this cut to drop, and Andrew says the CDQ is coming sometime this week. But until then, enjoy a radio rip of it. Props to LAStereo for the footage.
Filmed in the Spring of 2009, The GO! Experiment will finally see the light of day, online, next week (2/1). We’ll be dropping a new segment everyday from Monday-Friday here on FSD.
For those who have been waiting on this project to drop, my apologies on the delay, we had a deal to release this in a different fashion, but we opted to go straight digital.
The GO! Experiment features many of Chicago’s best and brightest emcees in the same room at the same time freestyling together as a homage to the final episode of Yo! MTV Raps in 1995.
Peep the brand new trailer (courtesy of Davy Greenberg) above to get an idea of what to expect. Mikkey Halsted, Rhymefest, Naledge, Mic Terror, Really Doe and Cold Hard can be seen doing their thing.
