Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Perform At Hangout Festival (Video)

Wrapping up their performance for the Billboard Music Awards in Vegas yesterday, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis flew to Alabama to perform an hour-long set at the Hangout Festival in Alabama. Check the performance of “Thrift Shop” up top and their marriage equality anthem “Same Love” downn bottom (which was preceded by a heart-felt speech from the Seattle rapper.

“We are in a very special time in American history right now. In fact, I would say we are in the middle of the biggest civil rights movement of our generation. I don’t know how you feel, but me personally, I believe that no government, no state, no institution, no religion, no other human being can tell you who you love in your heart is right or wrong. That is up to you. Finally in 2013 we are starting to have discussion and dialogue about the issue of marriage equality. The fear and the hatred that has been passed on from generation to generation to generation is finally starting to cease and love is prevailing all over the world. I believe in tolerance, I believe in compassion and I believe in equality.”

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Cover Billboard Magazine

You know how Fridays are almost always “slow musical content day-slash-magazine cover release day?” Welp, here’s another such occasion! With “Can’t Hold Us” going double-platinum, Method Man’s BFF and his running mate grace the cover of the magazine’s latest issue to talk the independent hustle.

Method Man Calls Out Macklemore For “Crowd Walk” (Video)

When I first saw Macklemore walk on the crowd during his performance at Soundset last year, I was instantly transported back years ago when I was a young Shake holding Method Man up by his kicks during a show in Vegas. Not saying Mack was jackin’ (or even taking credit for) the “crowd walk” but it was just what my mind thought of when it went down. Apparently, the same thing happened to Method Man as he took time out during his 4/20 show in Denver to address Macklemore and tell the crowd he “started that shit.”

I was watching MTV not too long ago and there was a rapper on stage. This motherfucker had a lot of energy and was really, really enjoying his performance. I think his name is Macklemore. Don’t get me wrong, that motherfucker can rhyme, but as I’m watching his performance, I seen this motherfucker do something that just pissed me off. He actually tried to walk onto the crowd’s hands.

I started that shit! That’s my shit! Don’t get me wrong, when Macklemore come to y’all city, y’all show him all the love that y’all show Red and Meth. But if that motherfucker tries to do my walk on the crowd thing, I want Denver, Colorado, to drop his ass like a bad habit.

Whatever the case may be, it’s part of a great performance that both artists are known to put on. And we should all enjoy it, because there are some terrible live acts out there that are wasting our hard-earned money with each show.
