Until Meka gets off his lazy ass and uploads his personal footage, HHO comes through with a nice little recap of the events that went down last weekend. Featuring cameos from everyone from 9th Wonder to Ghostface, Pacific Division, Kidz in the Hall, Nas, ATCQ, Pharcyde and more. And hit the jump for a more in depth interview with De La Soul…
I never really thought about how much I enjoy swimming until I did so yesterday haha. I need to get back to the pool once the work day is over for sure. Random I know, deal with it. Los Angeles’ Diz Gibran just did an interview with The Smoking Section and it’s pretty good so check it out. The meaning of this post though is to drop a new track he did with BJ the Chicago Kid. Strange enough the homie Zach Lee just made a post about BJ with some unreleased joint and a few thoughts, check it. Be on the lookout for the upcoming Diz Gibran mixtape presented by Crooks & Castles.
In the same light as the Inverse post we made. Here goes some performance footage and brief commentary/conversation from PacDiv during their time at at VIMBY’s Swing House event in Los Angeles.
Before I turn off the laptop (aka, put it to the side and ignore it for 10 minutes) I wanted to post some sweet footage of N.E.R.D. in Los Angeles recently performing at the Shrine Expo for the HARD Summer Music Festival. Above is their performance of Anti-Matter and after the jump you get the goods of Lap Dance, Rockstar, Spazz Out, etc. Big props to woodini69!
I figured since I’m in Cali right now I should show support to some Cali artists haha. Here goes two NoDJ joints from Roccett. First he jumps on the CTE Remix of Jeezy’s Put On and then he grabs Young Buck for a track off his upcoming project, Corporate America.
Although I’m having a relatively shitty day I had to show love to my man Tunji and Inverse. Here goes an interview/performance at VIMBY’s Swing House event in Los Angeles. You can bet there will be both a Inverse joint as well as a incredibly dope Tunji solo track produced by one of my favorite producers in the game on the upcoming 2dopeboyz presents: A (2)Dope Mixtape: Cadillac Edition. I stay puzzling people…
On this bright Tuesday morning I wanted to hit ya’ll with this new track from the incredibly dope TiRon. Reppin’ Los Angeles, so you know he’s gonna be featured on the upcoming 2dopeboyz West Coast Mixtape! He’s also working on an album which will be dropping on my birthday month (November). You might of heard his fresh Throwing My Money joint off DJ Sean G’s Lever 2008 mixtape we posted awhile back or when I dropped a couple of his tracks in recent What’s in the Tapedeck posts. Oh and he also wrote/sang the hook for PacDiv’s Paper. Don’t sleep! And if you need more music, hit the jump for his latest mixtape, Handshakes & Pounds, which I shamelessly jacked the link from Tunji.
I was just about to hit the sheets and let Immortal Tech hold the top spot for the AM but then I had to go and check my email. My man Jon dropped me a link to this new video from So. Cal’s Shawn Jackson. When you listen to this guy you can tell he has that old school instilled in him but he balances it out with today’s music. Great overall sound imo. I’ve been following up on him since Soul Searching which I think was in ’02 (don’t quote me). Regardless, peep the video. And if you’re diggin it, he’s got an album dropping July 8th, First of All…. MEKA UPDATE: I just got hit with the audio of this from the homie onemic out in France.
Is this the last game of the NBA season? Or will the Lake Show stave off elimination? Let the discussion commence. UPDATE: A win is a win, but Los Angeles will need more to pull off the unthinkable. Shake Update: I didn’t get to talk my shit during the game, but I watched the entire thing. And you know this! And since I couldn’t chop it up with ya’ll in the comments here is a bonus track. Shouts to Nima.
It’s go time for LA. Pau has to step it up in order to even up the series. It’s as simple as that. I don’t expect KG to have another sorry ass game either. This one should be intense folks. Predictions, thoughts, hate?
I was promising this for too long so I had to drop it tonight so I wouldn’t forget again. Ever since my man put me onto FlyLo about a year ago with his debut 1983 I was hooked. I’m not sure on how to explain his production style. You take some hip hop breaks, some electronic sounds, some jazz influenced moods, some hazy samples, some off-kilter percussion and you throw it all together in an ambient mess of good’ness. FlyLo will be dropping his new album, Los Angeles, this Tuesday so if you’re feeling the sample tracks be sure to support! On top of the LP, expect a series of three EP’s (the first dropping June 30th). I hope just dropping three tracks will give people an idea of what he’s capable of although you really have to listen to a project in full to really appreciate the mans talent. Listen to them in order…
And we all know who that one is. BEAT BOSTON! UPDATE: Damn, despite the shitty 4th quarter by LA this game was dope! I still stand by my LA in 6 though.
