After a number of 2dope leaks, the Richmond, CA emcee comes through with his latest project. And on “his most personal work” to date, Lock enlists production from the likes of 9th Wonder, BrandUn DeShay, Eric G, Khrysis and more. Stream/download after the jump.

With the May 7th release date for The Green Box approaching, Locksmith speaks with MTV about the inspiration behind the project. Sharing that all he wanted to do as a youngin’ was hang out by the big electrical green box outside of his home.

This is probably my most personal work. It’s a glimpse of who Locksmith is as a person, as a young man growing up and my journey to becoming who I am now.

When I listened to the songs I was like, ‘Yo this album is kinda describing where I came from and my progression and who I am now. What’s the best way to symbolize that? Going back to my neighborhood, Crescent Park, Richmond, California and taking that symbol which is the green box.

After rocking a couple stages in Austin for SXSW (which you can see after the jump), Locksmith releases the latest single from his upcoming project, The Green Box.

The Los Angeles singer/songwriter enlists Seattle’s Nacho Picasso, Brooklyn’s Torae and Bay Area’s Locksmith for the latest single off his upcoming album, Simple Things, due out March 18th. And since I didn’t get around to posting earlier, hit the jump to check out Jarell’s 2dope cover of Semi Precious Weapons’ “Aviation High”.

On Valentine’s Day, Locksmith dropped off the above visual and I never got around to posting it because of my recent travels to Houston. Now, the Bay Area emcee liberates the .mp3 as well so you can enjoy both..
