I was literally telling 9th Wonder yesterday that I needed some new material from the soulful trio of young ladies, KING. And it seems the stars were in alignment as we finally have something new to press play on! I can’t even begin to guess how many times I’ve spun their three-track Story EP. And up until now that’s all we’ve been able to hear, so this is a welcomed treat. Hopefully it means a full-length is scheduled sooner than later. Or even a collab with Kendrick Lamar, like he hoped for during our 2Dope Conversation in Vegas.
Upon pressing play on this incredibly dope re.fix from Jesse Boykins III, most will relate the sounds to Kendrick Lamar’s Chapter Six. In reality though, the original source belongs to KING’s Hey (which can be heard on their 2011 release, The Story EP*). Either way, all three efforts are well worth a listen.
