Jay Electronica: The Complete Discography [As Of May 2013]

As someone who hasn’t followed every single move that Jay Electronica has made over the course of his oddball stay in the hip hop game, I’ve found it difficult to keep up with every he’s released thus far. But all that has changed now thanks to the good folks at No-Buzz.net, who have compiled the N.O. emcee’s complete collection of releases into one nifty little .zip file.

It consists of 93 total tracks, including 68 solo tracks and 25 features. The 68 solo tracks also include some rough quality releases, a couple freestyles, and abridged versions of Act I, broken down in several ways as you will see in the tracklist. The 25 features also includes abridged versions of many tracks, where I’ve cut the song to only have Jay Electronica’s verse and the chorus to the track, for people like me who only want to hear Jay Elect.

Hit the jump for the tracklist/download link. And as previously mentioned, I am by no means a stan for Jay’s music. So if something is missing, take your aim at No-Buzz and not the messenger haha.

Self Scientific – Mercy f. Kobe (prod. DJ Khalil; co-prod. Jay Electronica)

The Bullitts – They Die By Dawn f. Yasiin Bey, Jay Electronica & Lucy Liu

So today must be “reclusive rapper Friday” I guess, as yet another one – Jay Electronica – pops up with The Bullits, Mos Def and Lucy Liu once again for this cut off the soundtrack for the Western film They Die By Dawn And Other Stories (check the trailer up top), dropping June 4th. Props to Rolling Stone.

CETO – Hail Mary f. Jay Electronica

I guess at this point, any appearance from Jay Elect is welcome. Even if it comes with the inclusion of some random artist from NO. Those diggin’ the sound, can check out CETO’s latest project So Magnolia right here.

Time Pieces by Jason Goldwatch: Jay Electronica (Video)

“Time Pieces” are black and white, Super 8 mm, short films by director/photographer Jason Goldwatch that focus on his personal heroes and cultural icons. Textured, intimate and shot silent, Goldwatch shoots and also edits the film himself by hand, setting the images to ironic sound beds. In this, the first piece in the series, Goldwatch captures a moment in the lives of Renaissance man Pharrell and model Karolina Kurkova while they were on a photo shoot in beautiful Brazil.

Jay Electronica Performs At Made In America Festival (Video)

The performances / sets keep rolling in (peace to Yardie!) and now we get Jay Elect’s impromptu performance at the Made In America Festival. SHAKE UPDATE: During his set Jay Elect said his first single will feature Chris Brown. Thoughts? Also, I’ve included some alternative footage (courtesy of Miss info) after the jump.

Nas & Jay Electronica Deny Ghostwriter Allegations (Video)

Yesterday, word hit the internet that Jay Electronia had ghostwritten for Nas’ Untitled LP. And during his time on Big Boy’s Neighborhood, Nas denies any such allegations. He also states that he draws inspiration from friends and people that are around, lists a couple songs that he wished he recorded and more. UPDATE: Turns out this clip is from last week and the question was asked before the allegations were out. Still… the answer shouldn’t change right? UPDATE 2: Jay Electronica has also shared his thoughts on the situation via Twitter.

Jay Electronica Ghostwrote on Nas’ Untitled Album?

In news that may not be of surprise to some, but may leave others in complete disbelief, Nasir Jones may have received some pennng help on his controversial 2008 LP. FWMJ’s Rappers I Know recently wrote a piece hilariously titled, Nas Lost (Ghostwriters), in which he revisits his days working at Hot 97 back in ’07 and receiving a phone call from Jay Electronica telling him that he was ghostwriting for Nas. The article follows tweets from hip-hop journalist and cultural critic Dream Hampton who also confirmed in a response tweet revealing that Nas’ 2008 album, Untitled, was written largely by Stic of dead prez and Jay Electronica.

Jay Electronica — Act II: The Patents Of Nobility (Tracklist)

Taking to Twitter, Jay Electronica just released an image of the album’s tracklist. Features include Kanye West, Jay-Z, Diddy, Erykah Badu and more. Hit the jump for it written out.

So, Nas’ Untitled Was Supposed To Be a Joint Album w/ Jay Electronica…

While across seas, Nas sits down with BBC Radio 1′s Benji B to talk about Life Is Good, his relationship with Amy Winehouse, the lost record with Frank Ocean (which we now can blame Hit-Boy for losing) and more. The most important thing comes in at the 23:00 mark though as Nas reveals that he originally wanted to have Jay Electronica produce the entirety of Untitled.

Ah man, imagine a whole project sounding like Queens Get the Money. Damn…

Eversno & Whosane Remix Jay Electronica’s Dear Moleskine

While a lot of folks (including myself) usually turn their nose up at the sight of artists remixing tracks that are already incredible and/or have been redone more times than Sasha Grey has taken it up the rear-end, there are times where it’s not really our place to judge. Musicians, designers, writers, hell… everyone gets inspired by different things, so who are we to say they can’t do something? Ok… there are times where asshats just jump on the hottest instrumental and blabber on just to try and get a few seconds of fame. I’ll give you that.. but not all. Case in point… Whosane (who some of y’all might recall from his contribution to Taxi with Mos Def) and Eversno (who is new to the dopehouse but has been getting a lot of love) both felt inspired by Jay Elect’s talks of depression and perseverance and decided to share their own stories.
