As I said in the post below, today marks the day we lost one of the best producers to ever do it. And with that, I’m making mostly Dilla-related posts in his honor. Here are three fantastic podcast mixes of J. Dilla music. The most recent one was put on the Stones Throw site a few days back but I waited until this day to post all three. J. Rocc (Beat Junkies) did a fine job in showing tribute to the legendary producer. I didn’t include any tracklists, because there’s no need. Just sit back and enjoy…

I know there are more than a few sample-heads that view these parts of the internets, so here is a little treat for ya’ll. J. Rocc (Beat Junkies) mixed the samples used in the upcoming Droppin’ Science CD with the hip hop songs that sampled them. Here’s the intro of the press release…

“On February 12, Blue Note Records will release Droppin’ Science, a unique collection of the legendary label’s classic late 60s through mid-70s jazz-funk tracks, all of which have featured prominently as samples in some of the greatest hip hop cuts of the late 80s, 90s and beyond. Hip hop artists ranging from Dr. Dre to the Beastie Boys and A Tribe Called Quest have sampled Blue Note grooves by such jazz greats as Lou Donaldson, Grant Green, Donald Byrd, and Lonnie Smith.” [preview the full album]
