Here’s the first offering off The Beat Junkies member’s upcoming debut solo project, Some Cold Rock Stuf brought to you by the dopest indie label ever, Stones Throw. Per norm, there will be a CD and vinyl release. To pre-order the CD and for more photos from the project, hit this link.
This is the debut album of original music from one of the original turntablists, the longtime DJ for Madlib and the late J Dilla, and our pick for world’s greatest hip-hop DJ.
But this is not a “DJ album”. Not a “beat album”. Not a mix tape. This is an original work of instrumental hip-hop … electronic music … dance music … smoke tracks … assorted cold rock stuff.
Some Cold Rock Stuf also contains a “mystery disc”, one of three mystery discs included in different copies of the album. No track list is provided for the “mystery disc” and the CD label does not distinguish one mystery disc from the other.
With V-Day right around the corner, Stones Throw‘s very own Peanut Butter Wolf, J.Rocc, Dam-Funk, Mayer Hawthorne and James Pants each provide a 10-minute mix of music. And speaking of Dam-Funk, hit the jump for a little unplugged action.
