Brand new video from Mickey Factz’ DJ, Melo-X. Some slick visuals off his instrumental album, Dusty Time Warped Vibes. With a name like that, how can you pass it up? Shouts to Artemus Jenkins on the direction credits as the documentary style shots capture a piece of this urban renaissance man’s life. Shake’s in a giving mood (for now) so why not include a link to the album. Thanks AJ!
I was promising this for too long so I had to drop it tonight so I wouldn’t forget again. Ever since my man put me onto FlyLo about a year ago with his debut 1983 I was hooked. I’m not sure on how to explain his production style. You take some hip hop breaks, some electronic sounds, some jazz influenced moods, some hazy samples, some off-kilter percussion and you throw it all together in an ambient mess of good’ness. FlyLo will be dropping his new album, Los Angeles, this Tuesday so if you’re feeling the sample tracks be sure to support! On top of the LP, expect a series of three EP’s (the first dropping June 30th). I hope just dropping three tracks will give people an idea of what he’s capable of although you really have to listen to a project in full to really appreciate the mans talent. Listen to them in order…
The homie J. Burnett sat down with Blu for an in depth interview on HipHopDX. Check it out as Blu runs down the situations displayed on Below the Heavens, future projects, his influences and much more. And on a semi-related note… Exile did us all a favor and dropped the official instrumental to Mobb Deep’s Pearly Gates (in which he did) on OKP. He also dropped the instrumental for Greater Love which was featured on Below the Heavens. If you’re like me, you can listen to instrumental albums all day so these are nice additions for the collection. And I guess if you emcee, these would work for you too haha.
This is one of my favorite tracks on the new album and I’m pretty sure I’m not alone. On day 10, Tigallo speaks on how this track served as a changing moment on how he perceived his “job”. And instead of a different mix for the “gift” Tay and Pooh drop the original instrumental for us. Dope!
