My ears officially hate me. But only because this incredibly dope mix of FlyLo has been floating around the internet since Christmas and they haven’t had a chance to listen until now (thank you kindly Sweeney). All is good though, and I can’t wait for Cosmogramma (April 20th).
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to everyone. as we’re approaching this new year, I felt it was time to let go of some things that have been gathering dust. Some old things, and some new things, I tried to pick out tracks that I know yall haven’t heard yet so there should be surprises around every turn. can’t believe i’ve been making tracks for over 10 years now..That said, there’s so much to learn still. I hope you all enjoy this mix. Thanks to the Gaslamp Killer for doing an incredible job on this.

The crazy thing about this whole Internets business is that you’ll never know what you’ll stumble across one day, like this track Fresh dropped off on his Twitter last night.
Another morning, another Blu sighting. Rhyming over a joint off Flo’s Los Angeles LP. And check under the cut for the lyrics. Props to J.Kim. SHAKE UPDATE: I think this is a safe bet at what type of music to expect for their upcoming collab project.
See… I told ya’ll we’d be back to the music shortly. Now that the RAoF is come and gone, how about a new mixtape from John Robinson? Featuring production from Flying Lotus, DJ Rhettmatic, J Dilla, MF DOOM and more. Also, be on the lookout Mr. Robinson’s upcoming album, Who Is The Man, which is entirely produced by MF DOOM and dropping January 27th on Highwater Music. Snagged from OKP, by way of RhymeHouse.
From Theophilus to Theo. A snippet of this was featured on the Back 2 the Basics mixtape. Here’s the full version, produced by the ever so dope Flying Lotus. Also, OnSMASH will be premiering Theo’s new video for Dillagence (as the image above states).
Since Christmas is tomorrow it’s safe to say I’ll be far from a laptop the entire day. With that said we gotta hit you hard on Xmas Eve. What’s in the Tapedeck is always a great way to do so. Don’t you agree? Check the links below and hit the jump for some joints from.
I was promising this for too long so I had to drop it tonight so I wouldn’t forget again. Ever since my man put me onto FlyLo about a year ago with his debut 1983 I was hooked. I’m not sure on how to explain his production style. You take some hip hop breaks, some electronic sounds, some jazz influenced moods, some hazy samples, some off-kilter percussion and you throw it all together in an ambient mess of good’ness. FlyLo will be dropping his new album, Los Angeles, this Tuesday so if you’re feeling the sample tracks be sure to support! On top of the LP, expect a series of three EP’s (the first dropping June 30th). I hope just dropping three tracks will give people an idea of what he’s capable of although you really have to listen to a project in full to really appreciate the mans talent. Listen to them in order…
