On June 13th Eyedea & Abilities performed their new album By The Throat, which drops 07.21.09 (pre-order from Fifth Element, Amazon & iTunes), for an intimate audience at Intermedia Arts in Minneapolis, MN. Each song was prefaced with a short story or an explanation about that song. Michael Gaughan, the artist responsible for the album artwork, did a watercolor painting of the duo while they performed. Burn Fetish is the second video in this series with more videos to come so stay tuned.

On July 21st, Eyedea & Abilities will be dropping their new album, By the Throat, on Rhymesayers Entertainment. If you’re a fellow RSE stan like myself, you can’t be any thing but ecstatic about this! Eminem isn’t the only artist that hasn’t released an album in five years. 2004′s E&A was one of the dopest to drop that year (and still gets major spins). After hearing talks of never releasing another album, etc… I was thoroughly excited when I got the news yesterday. Now we have the first leak (which was premiered at the plantation earlier today).

By The Throat’s songs range from intensely personal topics to the more esoteric (quantum mechanics). The end result is leaps and bounds beyond what MC Eyedea is perhaps best known for, his prowess as a battle rapper (winner of HBO’s Blaze Battle, Scribble Jam and several others). DJ Abilities, also a well-known battle vet and contributor to El-P’s now-classic Fantastic Damage, adds heavily to the sonic soundscape of this album, which advances beyond boom-bap hip-hop into rock-fueled guitar riffs, gritty production and melodic songwriting.

Repping the great city of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Knonam teams up with Loud.com to drop off a free EP with production fromJake One, Brother Ali and himself. You’ll also hear guest spots from Royce Da 5’9″, Eyedea, Brother Ali and Jake One. I remember when I first heard of Knonam when I randomly came across a track called Minnesota. Dope emcee.
