Nottz Presents: The Welcome Home Compilation (Mixtape)

Nottz recently released this two-disc compilation mixtape featuring real DJs laying down real cuts (DJ Rhettmatic, happy belated born day brotha! and DJ I.N.C.). MCs include Fearce Villan (of Dyme Def), DMP, Marv Won, Skyzoo and more plus production by Mr. Porter, Kleph Dollaz, Kino Beatz, Numonics, Nottz and much more!

Used to be a title showing a capability to mix and scratch existing music to create a new sound (the equivalent of the digital match-up artists of today), but now anyone who has made a track line-up on a tape or burned CD has the same talent of the self-proclaimed narcissistic DJs of today who for some reason buy their material on LP even though all they’re doing is fading at the end of one track into the beginning of the next.

DJ Rhettmatic – WhutUpDoe v.2: J Dilla Tribute Mix

I know today is Valentine’s Day, so Happy Valentine’s Day to all the lovers around the world. Me personally, I don’t really like to celebrate Valentine’s Day…..i tend to have some bad memories due to Cupid’s sadistic jokes on me (I usually like to choke Cupid out like a MMA fighter…LOL!) So instead, i celebrate Dilla Month during the month of February. My good friend, James Yancey, better known to the world as J Dilla, was an Aquarius; born on Feb 7, 1974, but ironically passed away on February 10, 2006, due to complications from Lupus. He passed away 3 days after his birthday when he released his final album “Donuts”…….Even though Dilla was from & repped Detroit to the fullest, he also called Los Angeles his home where he was really appreciated out here. And as for his request, Dilla asked to buried in LA. Dilla was buried in the hills of Glendale, Ca; which ironically on Valentine’s Day, on a beautiful sunny day, with two heart shaped clouds that was made by sky writers.

Anyways, here’s a new installment of the “Whutupdoe” Mix Volume 2……i made this late last night into the early morning, just for all you Dilla heads & music lovers alike. You’ll hear some familiar beats/songs, as well as some Dilla treats that you might have or have not heard. From soulful type beats to club bangers….and if you know Dilla, you would know that he got a sense of humor as well as a fetish for the Female’s Glutius Maximus…..Personally, i still think my fellow Beat Junnkie & brother, the Funky President J.Rocc, can make a better Dilla mix than me & anyone out there, with a exception of Houseshoes & others. But i was inspired to make this…..I try to go for a longer mix but i was getting sleepy….Ha! Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy the mix…this one is for you….and this one is for Dilla!

Stream (and DL if you have an account) over at MixCrate or grab the mix here. No tracklist needed… it’s Dilla dammit!

Wonderlove: A Tribute Mix to Stevie Wonder (Mixed by DJ Rhettmatic)

To help celebrate his birthday, DJ Rhettmatic decided to put together a mix of Stevie Wonder jams to share with us. Definitely needed something like this in my life right about now.

I was thinking of doing a mix on James Brown, but I realized that no one can do a James Brown mix better than my brother & fellow Beat Junkie, J.Rocc, so scratch that. I thought of doing one on Ghostface Killah, but I already did one a few years ago for the Ghostface Killah doll. Strike number 2! Last but not least, there’s the legendary Stevie Wonder. I know that Dj Spinna & Bobbitto Garcia aka Cucumber Slice are the masters when it comes to Stevie’s catalogue, but I actually made a mix that was a birthday gift for a good friend and was a big Stevie Wonder fan. I listened to the mix again a few weeks ago and I actually like how the mix came out. So I thought to myself, why not share it with people and also celebrate Stevie’s birthday….I just added an intro to the mix, and what you have now, is “Wonderlove”.
