I posted pt1 last week to a great email response. So I had to hit ya’ll with pt2. Detroit based hip hop artists, Invincible and Finale, rhyme about the impacts of gentrification on the Motor City. This piece includes interviews with community activists discussing displacement and predatory planning versus sustainable development in The D. For the full video, hit up CurrentTV. What up Jon!?
As if you didn’t know, NMC gets down like strippers with dead presidents on the ground. Obie is getting ready to push his third album, Bottoms Up, and they are working this record. Detroit is in the building today! Yessir. UPDATE: Shouts to the commenter that pointed out the lateness in this post. It’s very important to him that he gets credit for showing the world that Shake isn’t human. So props to him, smh.
Detroit’s Invincible & Finale drop part 1 of their docu-music-video from Invincible’s new album, Shapeshifters, over a sweet House Shoes canvas. This is some really compelling shit right here. Speaking on the gentrification that is going on in the D. Featuring interviews with community activists about displacement and predatory planning versus a sustainable ulterior. Be sure to cop Invincible’s LP as it’s quite dope (shouts to Jon for the advance!). Part 2 coming soon.
Huge game tonight. The playoffs have proved this year that series’ tied at 2-2, the winner of Game5 takes the whole cake. I’m going with the Celts by 6ish. What do the NBA dopeboyz and dopegirlz out there think?
I posted the BET/MTV version last week, now Curtis and Co. have released the uncut version. Boston’s gonna take Game1? We shall see, Detroit needs a fantastic fourth quarter.
How crazy is this. Three dope artists out of the D gettin down on a new track. I’ve been sitting on this for quite sometime (thanks to _____) and have been greedy enjoying it myself haha. Now that the track has leaked I figured I’d post. Of course I’ll add a bonus, also produced by Milk. Both are off Elz‘s infamous tour cd, Europass. Be SURE to cop that!
Now this is what they need to leak to get people hype for their mixtape, Return of the Dozen (supposed tracklist after the jump). Kuniva, Swifty McVay and Royce Da 5’9″. It’s great to see them together on a track. Where’s Em!?!? Apologies for the DJ, sheeeesh. This is too good not to put up though. Hopefully I’ll have a NoDJ version soon. Until then, enjoy!
So as I’m sitting at home alone (again) I start searchin the internets for something interesting to read. I come across the lovely Classic Drug References blog and scope out sk’s latest interview with Slum Village’s Elzhi. Since I find that Elzhi is one of the most overlooked emcee’s in the game I wanted to drop his unreleased Out of Focus EP as well as his Witness My Growth mixtape which does just that… it lets you listen to his growth as an emcee and writer from 97-04. On top of that I’ll give you a track off his upcoming album as well as one of my favorite SV tracks. One that got your boy Shake through a lot of tough times during my high school years. I mean a lot of tough times. I want to send a special thanks to El, T3 and the lovely singer (who I don’t know of) for that record. I mean it.
Unofficial video for the debut single from the UK’s Lidget Green Project featuring Guilty Simpson. No lies here, I straight grand theft blogged PMD for this. These Bradford boys know whats up, be on the lookout for the second single with Craig G.
What up fellow dopeboyz. If you we’re around a month or so back you’d recall me dropping some heat off the latest project from Detroit’s Black Milk and Cali’s Bishop Lamont. Back then, I let ya’ll have some tracks with DJ Warrior over the top. Now I’m dropping the entire tape (might as well call it an album) without any drops … that’s right. Royce Da 5’9, Ras Kass, Busta Rhymes, Guilty Simpson and many more make guest appearances on this banger!
