Radio personality and the Princess Jasmine of hip-hop Simone “Boss Lady” Amelia showcases Australia and New Zealand’s hottest rap talent with her latest mixtape, Go Down Under v.1. The 19-track DJ Leon Smith-mixed project features Iggy Azalea (who we’re all quite familiar) along with David Dallas, Daniel Merriweather, and more. Stream and download the compilation after the jump.
Inspired by the criminally underrated Jamiroquai (remember that brief run they had? Man…), David Dallas drops his quickstrike freelease sampling or interpolating tracks from their catalogue. Tracklist and link down bottom.
An epic song in an equally epic landscape. If they turned Lord of the Rings into a rap video, it’d probably look like this.
David will drop Buffalo Man, a project inspired by the super underrated Jamiroquai (man, they were my shit when I was younger), drops next Wednesday (September 26th).
“Sometimes you just wanna make a rap video at a days notice. Especially when you grow up on the other side of the earth and get a chance to go to a place you’ve only seen in skate vids, the Mo Money, Mo Problems music video and at the end of Men In Black. No days off until this thing takes off.”
Tri-State Area residents of the dopehouse: On Monday, November 7th, Duck Down’s David Dallas – with appearances by Just Blaze, The Kid Daytona, Tayyib Ali, Promise and yours truly – is set to perform at Manhattan’s Mercury Lounge, and here’s your chance to win passes to catch him and more perform. How do you enter to win? Simple: enter your full, real name and legit email in the c-section down below where applicable (not in the comment itself, unless you want some random spam bot flooding your inbox for the next 50-11 years), and write “entered” in the comment. I’ll pick two persons out of the mix as the winners (a pair of tickets each). It’s not that hard, right? Tri-State Area residents/those who actually plan on being in New York the time of the event enter only. Good luck.
Hit the jump for more information, and cop tickets right here. The first 25 fans inside will receive a free copy of David Dallas’s The Rose Tint, which you can pre-order right now.
A few Saturdays ago I went to catch the semi-finals of the Rugby World Cup between Australia and New Zealand at a bar in the city, and that place was as ratchet as a Fozzie Bear concert. So I can imagine how the entire country of New Zealand is right now since their team, the All Blacks (Best. Sports. Team. Name. Ever.), won the Rugby World Cup this past weekend. Daivd – also a New Zealander – pays homage to the momentous win with his latest video off the deluxe edition of The Rose Tint out November 8th in the U.S. (November 14th in New Zealand/Australia).
David Dallas will re-release The Rose Tint as a deluxe album on November 8th, which will feature new cuts as well as the album’s instrumentals. Here is one of the new tracks from the project.
