Back in June, we were introduced to the sounds of the Paris-based production duo The Union with the original to the Elzhi-assisted Wings. Redefinition Records’ Damu the Fudgemunk dissected the original and added the official Damu stamp, with those trademark, trunk-shattering drums. Cop and pre-order on wax right here.

Following up on the heels of his last release, Overthrone (Try a Lil Skillfulness), Redefinition Records co-capo and DC native Damu the Fudgemunk is back with yet another brand new release, on a limited 7″. Written and produced by Damu, with cuts also by Damu, the 7″ is on sale now at Redefintion Records, limited to 225 copies. A side is vocal, B side instrumental. While you’re there, might as well pick up the other 7″ that’s also for sale (175 copies).

Another (2)Dope premiere. This one has been getting steady burn on the tables since I got it. DC’s very own Damu the Fudgemunk offers up his version of Otis Redding’s Try a Little Tenderness and excels at it. If you like what you hear, you can cop on 7″ over at UGHH. It will also be available on iTunes soon if you’re down to support. Also, the good folks over at egotrip are offering up the flipside of this record, All Green (using Al Green samples) for download as well. Finally, you can check Redef’s site for a nice box set they’re offering for a limited time, complete with an early release of a brand new Damu album.

(2)Dope premiere. The Union are two Paris-born and bred producers, highly influenced by the late, great J Dilla “whose otherworldly approach to analog-driven, melodically abstract, sample free hip-hop inspired Fat Beats Records to extend a label invitation immediately. “ On their Time Leak EP, they’ve recruited one half of Black Star, Talib Kweli alongside Sly Johnson for a Matrix inspired song, video and piece of vinyl. The vinyl, which you can order here, features the original, instrumental, Damu the Fudgemunk rmx and fLako remix. Here’s the Damu remix, for free.99 Peep the video after the jump.

The Union Damu remix coming soon on Redef Records (?). Only time will tell. Keep it locked here or there.

My 45 record collection is slim at best, although I’m continuously building up on it. I recently received these two in the mail a few days ago and decided to share with the heads. First up is Damu the Fudgemunk’s remix (Redef Remix) to Kaimbr & Kev Brown’s Army Fatigue Rap featuring Roddy Rodd, Hassan Mackey and DJ Marshall Law. Although the limited LP with the exclusive 7″ featuring the remix is long gone, you can still pick up the 12″ or CD over at UGHH. The second joint featured here was a part of the King of the Beats project (you can watch the entire documentary here) produced by The Beatnuts’ Psycho Les, pressed in limited quantities (300 copies is the word on the curb). Peace to my mello my man John N.
