Earlier this week I held a voting session for three artists I feel are the current embodiment of the up-and-coming hip-hop culture to rock the 2DB x Brooklyn Bodega Show & Prove show Wednesday, June 22nd. Your winners and details for the whole shebang are down bottom.
It’s that time again. The dopehouse is now an official media partner of Brooklyn Bodega’s upcoming BK Hip-Hop Festival, and to kick off the union we’re throwing a special Show & Prove competition Wednesday, June 15th) in Brooklyn, where the performers are vying for a spot on the Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival going down July 16th.
I’ve been tasked with finding a pair of artists to perform at the showcase next week, and instead of doing it myself I’m letting the visitors of the site do so. I’ve picked three artists who I feel are the current embodiment of the up-and-coming Brooklyn hip-hop culture, and I’ve left a poll below for the fans to vote on who they would want as a performer next week. The two with the most votes will be contacted to perform. Without further adieu, check out the nominees down bottom.
Ladies and germs: the dopehouse is the official programming and media partner of the Brooklyn Bodega’s Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival, going down July 16th in Bucktown. To kick off the whole shebang, we’re presenting the Bodega’s annual Show & Prove showcase, next Thursday (May 19th) where the acts performing are vying for a chance to rock the Hip-Hop Festival as the opening acts. Yeah, this isn’t the only thing the dopehouse has planned either…
The best is yet to come this summer. You’ve been warned.

I’m sure the Internets will be bludgeoned with more of the typical, impersonal, shit-level quality Flip Cam clips of the event (I see some are floating around already), I wanted to try to bring a different perspective of the 2010 rendition of the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival. With this being my first trip to the concert, I thought it would be better to try a more personal approach to the prototypical “exclusive concert footage” that most of us usually don’t watch anyways. Guest shots by Torae, Fashawn, De La Soul, a reunited Group Home and Pete Rock & CL Smooth, DJ Premier, some incredibly cute children and more. Enjoy.
Meka posted a clip of Black Thought joining J. Period during his live mixtape set at the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival. Now we the official footage w/ (2)dope appearances from Black Thought, O.C., Brand Nubian, etc. Black Thought performing his rendition of Brooklyn (We Go Hard) above, the rest after the jump…
