The lineup for the upcoming project consists of: Talib Kweli, U-God, Jay Electronica, OC, Curren$y, Wiz Khalifa, Jim Jones, Sean Price & The Cool Kids.
It’s more or less actual studio footage of the recording session that took place than a “music video” music video, but regardless it’s still dope.
On the night of September 20th, Wildabeast (emcee) and Jelani (engineer) took the instrumentals from the BlakRoc project. Eight hours later, they wrote, recorded, mixed and finished a seven-track EP worth of material.

Andrew got some footage of Chuck and Mikey working on a track for the upcoming BlakRoc project, with The Black Keys.
We’re currently 2 days away from the official release of one of my favorite albums of 2009. But for those that haven’t heard it, you can do so by clicking the image above. The Black Keys meet Pharoahe Monch, Ludacris, ODB, Nicole Wray, Q-Tip, Jim Jones, RZA, Billy Danze (M.O.P), Mos Def, Raekwon and more.
Whether it be physical or figurative, whether it be the Berlin Wall or a social stigma, sometimes there are dividing lines that separate what should be together naturally. BlakRoc does not smash those boundaries or break down those walls, it proceeds as if those boundaries never existed and acts accordingly. BlakRoc sets the drawbridge between forms of expression, Hip Hop and Rock by doing something as simple as putting the artists of different genres of music in one room and documenting as harmonious collaboration takes place. Backed over the soundscapes of indie rock superstars The Black Keys, BlakRoc brings elite hip hop artists to record an album like none other, an experiment with no control subject. The Black Keys paired up with artists such as Jim Jones, Mos Def, Raekwon, Ol’ Dirty Bastard and a cadre of other stars is a transfusion of new blood to the otherwise stolid veins of the current music scene.
The (2)dope BlakRoc project drops this (Black) Friday. Be sure to pick it up.
Week 10 features footage of Nicole Wray working on track 5 from the BlakRoc project, that drops Black Friday (11/27).
My personal most anticipated track off the upcoming BlakRoc project, dropping on Black Friday (11/27).
Mos Def provides some more flavor for the upcoming Blakroc project, dropping November 30th. Shouts to OS.
An album featuring the Black Keys and some of the biggest names in hip-hop will be released Nov. 27 2009 (the so-called “Black Friday” day after Thanksgiving) under the name Blakroc. The project was spearheaded by rapper Jim Jones and also sports contributions from Mos Def, Q-Tip, RZA, Raekwon, Ludacris, Pharoahe Monch, NOE, Nicole Wray, Billy Danze and the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard.
Applaud Dame Dash for having a hand in all this.
