Last Tuesday, Toca Tuesdays held a tribute for the memory of the late, great Big L. DJ Premier took over the guest spot on the 1′s and 2′s, as Ron Browz, Bobbito, Big L’s brother Donald, and Juelz who is behind the upcoming Big L tribute film. Kid Capri, Diamond D, and AG all called in to pay there respects.

Media Gasface catches up with Lord Finesse and Ogee (of D.I.T.C.) to talk about L’s passing 11 years ago.

The building you see behind Ogee (at 0:56) has been Lamont Coleman’s home for the fast 24 years he lived : 104W 139th Street. The park where we stand is the place where he used to hang out and rhyme at with his friends from the Children of the Corn (COC) crew : Cam’ron, Ma$e, McGruff and Bloodshed. 11 years ago, at 8:30 pm, Big L was shot and killed a block away from here, on 45 W 139th . In the heart of what he used to call the Danger Zone.

It’s been close to three months since I dropped Volume 2. And honestly, I had this concept and tracklist set about a week after that. But since I’ve been busy (2dbz, moving, vacation, etc) I couldn’t get it up until now. Anyways, as the title suggest this is a special edition of What’s in the Shakedeck. Last weekend, Harlemites paid tribute to the one and only Big L, and painted a mural in the city in his honor. DJ Premier, Lord Finesse and may others were on hand for the celebration.

Damn this looks like it’s gonna be dope! Big L rest in peace (peace)…
