For as long as I’ve been doing this here internet thing (5+ years with 2DBZ, 5+ years with HipHopDX), Young Sav and his Best of Both Offices partner Steve-O (pictured on the left) have always held it down with Def Jam releases and laced the internets with that new’ness. Now Kendal Freeman has a new title to represent: Vice President of Maybach Music Group. In a statement to Billboard, Sav had the following to say about his new venture.
I am extremely excited to embark on this new path in my career. I appreciate Ross for noticing my grind, work ethic and giving me a major opportunity to not only be apart of this label, but also help execute his vision. It’s going to be a privilege to work with the brand and assist in taking it to the next tier. All of the artists on the roster are amazing. I’m ready to get to work.

I actually was at the Def Jam offices and saw this footage today, right before Sav cut it up and made it what it is. ‘Kiss checking out the artwork for his album for the very first time. Shouts to everyone I met in the building. Mazzi… the lunch/drinks were good. Yodel!
J-to-the-Muah reminisces of memories with the late great Notorious B.I.G. while on air with Cipha Sounds & Peter Rosenberg. I really love shit like this. Especially when you can tell how genuine Kiss is on his memories. None of that “oh yeah I was cool with Biggie” shit just to act cool. Shouts to BoBo.
The young gunner spits a few bars for the masses. I don’t think he’s bad, but in terms of Philly’s king: Will Smith > Beanie Sigel > Young Chris. Props to the BoBO. Young Sav what up?!
