Fish. The newest video from Bambu finds him in front of Los Angeles’ infamous photographer Estevan Oriol! Fish was originally recorded and released in conjunction with Frank 151′s Chapter 45 on the Philippines (fish being one of the countries main sources of food), in which Estevan and Bambu collaborated for and has now transformed into a larger visual piece. Taking place on Venice Beach’s pier, we watch the journey of the fish from its contaminated habitat in Los Angeles, to a Pilipino seafood market in Historic Filipinotown and finally to the table of Bambu’s family. Fish.
The most recent Frank151 chapter is dedicated to the Philippines. So, in celebration of his inclusion in the issue, Bambu has leaked a song created especially for the magazine.
“America” is the latest leak off the EP short changed. The song touches on Bambu’s time in the military and the conflict between his service to his country and his disservice to his community. If you’re in L.A this Monday, you should definitely check out Bambu at The Roxy. Check the flier after the jump.
Drums & Ammo is Bay Area-reared, four-man production team composed of Ammbush, 6Fingers, REL & Al Jieh. Their instrumental project, Vol. 1, is available now at SWTBRDS for the low-low of free.99.
“Something” is a song that was released this past March, during Women’s History Month in hopes of raising awareness about violence against women. These are the accompanying visuals, by Oishi Media, starring Tep Castillo. The Hip Hop community rarely takes a firm stance against such issues and often times celebrates such acts – “…all I heard was Poppa don’t hit me no more…” This song will be included on the re-release of Exact Change on the bonus disc titled, Short Changed dropping on April 29th. – Bambu.
March, in case you were unaware, is Women’s History Month. Los Angeles’ own, Bambu, leaks a song that takes a look at domestic violence from a personal perspective. The song speaks on his family history with violence in the home, as well as his own struggles with it, even touching on the normalcy of such violence against women in our own Hip Hop culture. For this one, DJ Phatrick stepped out from behind the turntables to produce, sampling Adele’s “Someone Like You.” A video is set to drop at the end of the month and the song will also be included on Bambu’s …Exact Change… re-release bonus EP, Short Changed, dropping on April 29, 2011 through Beatrock Music Label.
