Zo! – SunStorm (Artwork x Tracklist)

Artwork and tracklist for the Detroit-born, DC-based producer’s new album, which drops on July 27th.

Indie soul siren and American Idol vocalist Sy Smith serves up a slice of 70′s soul on the breezy “Greatest Weapon Of All Time,” and Lady Alma, a Philly veteran and stalwart of the UK house scene, takes it to the dance floor on the frenetic “Free Your Mind.”  The album’s lead single, “This Could Be The Night,” features Darien Brockington, Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Eric Roberson, and Rapper Big Pooh of Little Brother over a thumping two-step groove specifically intended for the ‘steppers’ of Zo’s native Detroit.  Another highlight is the Phonte-assisted “Flight Of The Blackbyrd,” Zo’s heartfelt homage to the 70′s jazz/funk fusion of The Mizell Bros. and George Duke.

Marco Polo – The Stupendous Adventures of Marco Polo (Artwork)

Artwork for Marco Polo’s upcoming album, dropping on June 29th via Duck Down Records.

HHDX: So each image means something?

Michael Del Mundo: Being that I’m also from the Toronto, the beaver is definitely sentimental. Also being able to draw the Duck Down dude is quite the pleasure. I’ve been a fan of Duck Down since Enta the Stage so I had to throw Mr. Duck Down in there.

Marco Polo: The cover has many specific images that mean something to me. We got the crazy beaver, which is a Canadian reference. I have my brother from another, Shylow, in the back taking pictures looking like a muthafuckin’ jolly-ass Santa Claus just happy to be along for the ride. Of course, the Duck Down [mascot] dude! All my albums on the dash and flying in the air, DVP sign on the highway which is Toronto all day… the shit is perfect.
