Jay-Z on Vh1′s Storytellers

Fallin’

Live on Vh1′s Storytellers. Jay-Z: Life of an American Gangster. Check it on on November 9th at 9:00 p.m. Check below for two more performances.

American Gangster #1

Grossing $46.3 million over the weekend, it marks the highest opening ever for an R-Rated crime drama as well as the highest opening ever for a Denzel or Russell film. That’s right. Through my promotion, and mine alone this movie hit the #1 selling mark for the weekend haha. But seriously congrats to all involved with the excellent film (saw it this weekend).

Jim Jones – American Gangster (Jay-Z Diss)

I’m not totally positive on Jenny’s reasoning behind his release date. I REALLY hope he doesn’t honestly think he’s gonna fuck with Hov. Oh well … guess he thinks so. I got my hands on the Harlem’s American Gangster mixtape. It’s meh. Here are two tracks.

*I didn’t wanna create another image with Lil Wayne in it so I put the joint in this post haha … check what Wayne and Jay-Z said about the collaboration on the post below.

Jay-Z & Lil Wayne Talk ‘Hello Brooklyn 2.0′

Lil Wayne and Jay-Z speak with MTV about their upcoming record together, entitled Hello Brooklyn 2.0. Supposedly it was originally planned to be on Wayne’s The Carter III (until Hova said he wanted it haha).

“[Wayne's camp] sent the record and it was done,” Jay elaborated. “So it wasn’t like a collaboration thing. It was done already. Gee [Roberson] and [Kyambo] ‘Hip Hop’ [Joshua], who came from Roc-A-Fella and went on to do great things — I’m very proud of them — manage Wayne. That whole thing came through them. It’s more of a great record than a lyrical slugfest. It’s more a creative, great record than two guys spitting. ‘Success’ [another American Gangster track] is more of what people wanna look at when you judge that type of [collaborative] stuff. It’s me and Nas going at it.”

Jay also says that he is still making revisions to his upcoming album and mentions a future tour with the entire Roc-A-Fella roster.

Jay-Z – American Gangster (Exclusive Snippets)

Nothing much to say here. The homies over at HipHopDX have an exclusive preview of the new Jay-Z album. Thirty second snippets of the entire album. Yessir, I’ve got my pre-screening passes for next week lined up. Is you ready?

Official Jay-Z ‘American Gangster’ Tracklisting

The days are counting down until Jay-Z drops his first ever “concept album”. While most fans (including myself) are anticipating this album more than anything … some HAVE to wonder what the deal is with track four?

1. Intro
2. Pray
3. American Dreamin
4. Hello Brooklyn 2.0 f. Lil Wayne
5. No Hook
6. Roc Boys (And The Winner Is…)
7. Sweet
8. I Know
9. Party Life
10. Ignorant Shit f. Beanie Sigel
11. Say Hello
12. Success f. Nas
13. Fallin
14. Blue Magic (Bonus Track)
15. American Gangster (Bonus Track)

I’m not sure of the reasoning behind it nor the quality of the track, but it’s definitely a weird situation. For one … Lil Wayne goes from being “the best rapper alive, since the best rapper retired” to the self-proclaimed “best rapper alive” oh … and “better than Jay-Z”. And what about that title of the track? Hello Brooklyn 2.0? Wayne’s not from Brooklyn, shit … he’s not even from NY! What does a New Orleans’ representative have with being on a BK joint? We’ll just have to wait and see.

The Incomparable H-O

The first two singles to Jay-Z’s upcoming album, American Gangster, have hit the internets. Blue Magic features production (and a hook) from Skateboard P while Roc Boys (And the Winner Is…) is all Hov over Diddy and his production team, The Hitmen. Jay’s bringing it back and the reviews have been nothing short of praise (check it: Entertainment Weekly, VIBE, Rolling Stone & XXL).
