I wanna know though, how many of those people with all the digital cameras clucking at the chance to be the first people to have their shit online actually went to the show and donated money to the cause? I sure as hell didn’t forget what the show was really about, and i gave some dollars for the cause. But by the looks of the largely empty donation box I saw, I’m in the minority. Sad, really. DJ Chong Wizard hooks up with Thick Magazine & KevinNottingham.com to present Eclectic Relaxation: A Tribute to A Tribe Called Quest. This mixtape has been a work in progress since last summer when a beat contest was hosted on KN for producers to recreate their favorite ATCQ tracks. Hundreds of entries were submitted and the best made the cut. Featuring emcees such as Del The Funky Homosapien, El Da Sensei, The Lessondary (Jermiside, Tanya Morgan, etc), Frank Nitti (of Frank N Dank), Moka Only, Bootie Brown and many more, Eclectic Relaxation is sure to give Tribe fans exactly what they’ve been waiting for… a proper tribute.
With all the buzz surrounding our ATCQ tribute mixtape with DJ Chong Wizard, we decided to release another joint off the mixtape to hold you over until we can finish this masterpiece. We got none other then The Lessondary crew to do an updated rendition of “Check The Rhyme.” The song features Jermiside, A Brother Named George, Von Pea, Don Will, Ilyas and Elucid. Once again the beat is produced by contest winner Bidimridim.

On this day 18 years ago A Tribe Called Quest dropped their classic cut, The Low End Theory. In commemoration of that the rapper QuESt and producer partner M Will The Shogun have decided to anounce their new project entitled A Rapper Called QuESt via youtube. Not many details can be released as of now besides that this will be a commemoration to A Tribe Called Quest and their legacy to our genre.
Another OkayRoots production with The Apple Juice Kid. This time he brings along his band The Remix Project for their brand new album Mixtape. They did live instrumental interpretations of your favorite hip hop tracks along with some of their favorites. The artwork was done by Dallas’ own Objektiv One so be looking out for much more from this dope designer as he is now illRoots Familia. Some brand new Freebass 808 (Apple Juice Kid x Suede) is on the way as their first single Rewind featuring Jovi Rockwell of Major Lazer will be dropping soon.
