Yeah, so I’m going to require one of these to sit near my Nigerian statues and alcohol bottles. Matt, you know how to find me. Inspectah Deck and 7L & Esoteric’s Czarface is out now.

February 19th is the release date for the collaborative effort between the Wu-Tang member and Bostonian duo, and you can check out some in-studio footage as well as the album’s tracklist down bottom.

So… you may want to hide your ski masks so as to keep the urge to catch a body down when you bump this song. The Czarface project will drop February 19th with features from Ghostface Killah, Action Bronson, Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire, Roc Marciano, Vinnie Paz, Cappadonna, DJ Premier and Oh No. Oh my.

Nearly 13-years after first collaborating on the title track to 7L & Esoteric’s Speaking Real Words, the three are joining forces as CZARFACE.
“The industry doesn’t need another well packaged, put together ‘act,’ instead fans are once again gravitating to the seasoned vets and newcomers that are still true to the game. We are CZARFACE because they know our faces and they know us for being dope rhyme suppliers, like Tony Montana we are known for our balls and our word; lyrically we will conquer the world and everything in it” states Deck. Esoteric explains further, “CZARFACE is a vigilante, anti-hero character who serves as the face of the project, and his focus is on annihilating the media darlings that the mainstream caters to.”
While the project doesn’t have an exact release date, you can expect guest appearances and production from Action Bronson, Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire, Roc Marciano, DJ Premier and Largo Pro.

Since I’m still on a huge indie hip hop kick and last week’s Shakedeck got a lot of love. Here goes another one in the same fashion w/ music from Aesop Rock, Brother Ali, Living Legends, Visionaries, Rise, Cage, extended f@mm, Sage Francis and more.

Around the beginning of the new millennium my musical playlist consisted of about 75% indie hip hop. Any and everything Rhymesayers / Definitive Jux / QN5 / Demigodz / Stones Throw / Weathermen / Psycho+Logical related dropped, I copped. Simple as that. Everyone from Sage Francis to Aesop Rock, Atmosphere to Cunninlynguists, Dilated Peoples, Cage, Copywrite, Louis Logic, Apathy, Celph Titled, Eyedea & Abilities, Mr. Lif, Brother Ali, DOOM… you get the point. And while the percentage might have changed a bit throughout the past few years (be it running 2dbz, indie artists releasing less material, the need for some random ignorance in my life, etc), I will always hold those years close to my heart. And with that sappy story said, I’ve put together a compilation of some of the songs that frequented my CD player. I’m sure this won’t be the last.
