Back in September the dopehouse linked up with Nino Bless to start a new series in which we gave up and coming acts a chance to shine on a mixtape with some of the dopest lyricists in the game. The result? A (2)dope mixtape that featured some new faces (Justin Ray x Juve x LnC x Patrick Star x Pilot Touhill x St. Joe Louis x Styfe x Vibes) rocking on a tape with Royce Da 5’9″, Grafh, Kam Moye, Sha Stimuli, Jay Electronica, Kool G Rap, Nino Bless and more. Now it’s time to get the ball rolling on Volume 2.
The Bigbreak v.2 is officially on its way for the beginning of the New Year. Volume 1 was a great success and was hosted by Grafh. All the artist apart of the project got a real solid look. Part 2 we take you out west with the legendary Ras Kass as the host. If you want to be apart of part 2 email your submissions to BigBreakMixtape@gmail.com (attachments only) and if you are chosen all the details will be given to you. – Nino Bless
Alright folks… here it is. The first installment of our Big Break series. Giving a few select artists a chance to shine on a tape with some of the dopest spitters doing it today. Back in mid-September we presented ya’ll up and coming emcees with a chance to get heard. Those looking to submit, have until Friday…
There were many submissions across the board from all over the world. Some were surprisingly great, some who should re-think their career & others who showed glimpses of potential but at the moment we didn’t think were potent enough. The winners will be announced the day the mixtape is released along with a write up of why we thought each individual deserved to be picked. The mixtape right now is very official and we have many established artist contributing as well. Thank you to all the artist who submitted their material. If you didn’t get a response don’t sweat it. You’ll have your chance as 2 more volumes are coming out. You’ll get your shot to shine. All artist have until this Friday to make their final submissions. We have a few surprises for the tape at the moment so stay tuned. We extended the deadline due to a few nice surprises. We were surprised to see the talent that was available out there. I want to thank all the artist both established and up and coming who are pushing this project forward as well as Shake & all the other websites/ promotional outlets supporting.
Last week, Slimm passed me the latest Wrap Up mix. But due to my mental break down I was unable to post it. So this week we come bearing two (2)dope mixes! Volume 8 features music from Rakim, Lupe Fiasco, Young Buck, Get Busy Committee, Add-2, Nas, Drake, Kanye West, Consequence and more. While volume 9 features new music from Chace Infinite, Crooked I, Royce Da 5’9″, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Freeway, KiD CuDi, Guilty Simpson, QuESt, etc.
So I originally started this series a month ago and ended up missing not being able to post each week since haha. Talk about a FAIL right? Anyways… Marco Polo Mondays will be a weekly feature I run; showcasing the talent from the Canadian producer. New, old, unreleased, etc. And myself and Marco are gonna make sure there’s no more mishaps from here on out. The first installment featured a joint off Pumpkinhead’s Orange Moon Over Brooklyn featuring (the big homie) Archrival. Now it’s time for a cut off Marco’s debut album, Canned Goods (2005), which features Skoob (of Das Efx).
After a few leaks, it’s time to unleash the full project from B/A & Yung Nate; presented by your favorite dopeboyz on the internets and your favorite rappers favorite clothing line.
Deal with No Deal, the album, provides insight on B/A and Yung Nate via their music and real life lyricism. Also, since they undergo different struggles as unsigned artist and in life; it is likewise they do not adapt to one solid genre of music. It’s through a combination of style and originality they provide their own unique sound as seen in the previous releases of 2DopeBoyz Intro,Ride Out (On it), MegaStar, and Never Get Me.
A little late on this week’s Wrap Up as I couldn’t get to labeling and setting up the post until now (add that to the fact that Slimm sent it 2 days late haha). Don’t worry though, we’re working the kinks out and will be dropping them on Mondays like planned within the weeks to come. Anyways, for those that haven’t caught on after a month… it’s a weekly mix we will be running that features (2)dope music that has been posted the week prior. A catch up of sorts, incase ya’ll missed something. This week we’ve got new music from Slaughterhouse, 50 Cent, El Prez, Shawn Chrystopher, Jay Electronica, The Game, Rapper Big Pooh, Immortal Technique, Chino XL and much more.
And we’re back with the 4th installment of The Wrap Up series. Brought to you by 2DopeBoyz, GoodMuzik101 & DJ Slimm! For those still not hip to this shit… it’s a weekly mix we will be running that features (2)dope music that has been posted the week prior. A catch up of sorts, incase ya’ll missed something. Last week, we obliged to the requests and added a .zip and now I saw a request for “square” artwork; and since the dopehouse is for the dopeheads… I put something together. This week’s mix features music from the likes of AZ, Sean Price, Wale, Emilio Rojas, Young Chris, Freeway, Serius Jones, Krondon, Jay Rock, Nero, Nas, Masta Ace, Wu-Tang, KRS-One, Canibus and more.
I hinted to this sometime last week on Twitter and damn near forgot to post (I blame the Customs fuckery, etc). It’s still Monday though, so were good. Anyways… Marco Polo Mondays will be a weekly feature I run; showcasing the talent from the Canadian producer. New, old, unreleased, etc. And for the first installment I decided to run with a track off Pumpkinhead’s 2005 release, Orange Moon Over Brooklyn, which was entirely produced by Marco. When I first heard this record I was caught up in the backward ass production (no, really haha) then Archrival came in and blew up the spot with his show stealing verse. That’s not to take away from any party involved as Swordfish is a (2)dope joint all around. If you haven’t already, cop that Double Barrel album and look out for Pumpkinhead PH’s upcoming mixtape, My Era (No Skinny Jeans Allowed).
As said last week, we’ll be teaming up with DJ Slimm to release a weekly wrap up podcast style mix (usually on a Monday, but I’m late haha). Sort of a catch up for folks, incase you missed something and whatnot. This week’s Wrap Up features new shit from Jay-Z, Self Scientific, Random Axe, Ghostface, AZ, El Prez, Big Boi, Stimuli, Mos Def and more. UPDATE: Slimm lived up to his side of our Shake-N-Bake partnership as he sent the wrong file in his state of elevation haha. Brought this back up to let ya’ll know the “real” mix has been added. Don’t sleep!
We’ve posted a coupletracks off this over the course of the last week, now it’s time to present (along with FakeShoreDrive & DJ Graffiti) the latest mixtape from Pugs Atomz. Featuring 16 tracks w/ guest spots from the likes of Finale, Astronote, 6th Sense, Ill Poetic, Sadat X and more.
It’s a pleasure to host this mixtape for Pugs, especially since we’re both representing the midwest and most importantly because I’m feeling every track on the mixtape. He got m thinking, ‘If the mixtape exclusives are this thorough, the album must be ridiculous!’ – DJ Graffiti
