The Evolution of MF DOOM

The good people at Noisey recently put up an incredible and in-depth feature combing through the history of one of hip hop music’s most mysterious minds, MF DOOM (or… DOOM). Take a look at the intro below and following the link to the full article.

MF DOOM is the most inimitable figure in hip-hop. As prolific as he is elusive, London-born and New York-bred Daniel Dumile owned artist anonymity long before SBTRKT donned his feathers and Daft Punk were still wearing bags on their heads. From behind the privacy of a metal mask, DOOM has painstakingly crafted a world of his own that’s invited a cult following of fans like no other rap artist. It’s a world drenched in sci-fi and comic book references, built through multiple personas, inseparable visuals and, of course, laboriously constructed bodies of music. Whether it be a concept album or left-field collaborations DOOM’s world is one of a kind.

Now with a new premiere on the horizon we look at the milestones in the many chapters of DOOM.

A Night In The Life: Juicy J and A$AP Ferg Take Over Sacramento (Pics)

Photos by HellaDecent/ThatRapDude.

The Stay Trippy Tour invaded Sacramento featuring A$AP Ferg and headliner Juicy J at the Ace of Spades. Starting with A$AP Ferg as the tour’s opener, he intends to get the crowd excited from the first song he performs. Within 10 minutes of starting his set, a male fan snatched Ferg’s hat during his performance but he didn’t catch a glimpse of the thirsty fan. He then stopped the show for about a minute to address the situation and call him out on it. A few songs in, he and Marty Baller lightened up the mood by inviting girls on stage to dance while they kept performing. Marty had his watergun on deck spraying it towards the crowd and Ferg had a water bottle handy to do the same. Among the songs performed, “Work” of course had everyone hyped up and even did his verse from the all-star remix. Juicy J’s set featured a grip of his strip club anthems like “Bandz A Make Her Dance” and he also got into some classic Three 6 Mafia tracks like “Stay Fly” and “Poppin’ My Collar”. Juicy joined in on the fun of inviting more girls on stage and trying to hook up some lucky dudes in the process. Juicy loves to interact with the crowd during his shows and at one point, he asks where the best strip club is. The man truly does love to party.

Raekwon & Akomplice Collab On Limited-Edition Belt

Nearly a year after we first got a preview, Akomplice Clothing and Raekwon have finally decided to unleash their collaborative limited-edition Pelican Belt to the world.

The Akomplice x Raekwon Pelican Belt is made of premium leather and comes in both black and brown. The Akomplice logo is embossed, and Raekwon’s name is laser etched onto the leather, giving two different looks to one belt. This belt is a true collector’s item, as it will only see a 25 piece production run. The collab comes complete in a wooden cigar box, which is homage to Rae’s Only Built 4 Cuban Linx series.
