As 1/2 of Minneapolis-based group Big Quarters, emcee/producer Medium Zach ventures out on his own with his three-track EP, Valued Input. Sticking with the production side of things, Zach enlists MaLLy, Metasota and Atmosphere’s Slug to provide the vocals. Check out some words from 2dope’s resident pen Paul Thompson about the project, then stream/download below.

Minneapolis is very cold. The city can trick you into forgetting this, but Medium Zach understands. The Twin Cities veteran has blessed the frozen metropolis with Valued Input, a three-song EP that showcases his talents behind the boards. And it’s cold. The record is a lean, gritty suite that’s varied enough to be fully realized, but never loses focus. Foregoing the mic himself, Zach employs a generation-spanning trio of rappers to round out the project. Mally is at his political best on “Live In Color”, while Metasota gets reflective on “Upward”. And when Atmosphere’s Slug shows up on “More Than Superman”, it’s as a prophet from the dark corner of the bar: “grab the wheel and make the bad feel casual”.
