Last night VH1 debuted the first part of their four-part series, “The Tanning Of America,” which is a virtual history and cultural lesson on hip hop and its subsequent global impact. The first part focused on its local roots, burgeoning buzz and its ultimate impact in popular music, with the likes of Russell Simmons, Run DMC, RIck Rubin, Fab 5 Freddy, Diddy, Nas and more providing personal insight.
